One guy I spoke to stated that he wouldn't come back to Cyprus even for a holiday as he hated the place so much.

I'm not saying that this appies to you sirox101 but it does seem to be a common happening recently.

hmmmm, Pretty astounded that everyone seems to think it is for the worse that people are leaving the island. How about the view that they want to experiance different cultures and lifestyles. People change, people move on. If no one left the island it would be starting to get over populated and lose (what is already disappearing) the beautiful views and countryside. I did a lot of research before coming here, my wife an I had a gameplan and are following it through.

We are doing OK here, probably better than we will in the UK, but things change, my daughter is growing up and ready for school, the English schools are quite expensive, therefore i would be no better off here or there, my personal preference is that she attended an English school otherwise there is no way for me to help her with her school work. My greek isn't that good.

So in summary I am doing what i feel is best for my daughter, not myself. At the end of the day, sunshine isn't everything.

We used columbia movers at paphos but i believe they also have offices at limmassol. They were excellent and we shipped a 4x4 lwb and all our personal effects (no big furniture or white goods though) and it was CY£1400 half the price from uk to Cyprus.Sorry it hasnt worked out for you,my husband was let down on the job he was promised and that left a nasty taste in his mouth. We did get work but after 9 months it worked out before expenses around CY£50 a week so it doesnt take a genious to work out that you cant live on that! Anyway,we are planning to return to Cyprus (our home still sitting there empty) as soon as we have enough money to support us while plan 2 for earning an honest dollar supports us.We loved Cyprus and our young Cypriot neighbours made us very welcome and begged us not to leave(many tears shed on both sides) but we did have to get some more cash together to live there.I do agree that there are a lot of problems but they are worldwide and have to be tolerated unless we all become vigilantes(i wish sometimes).
