Freedom of Speech

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

I think we must at all costs protect the values of free speech. In the UK you have the right to stand and say your views in public about pretty much anything provided you do not slander. You can say I think .................. but you cannot say this is........................ A view on something is different than presenting something as fact when it cannot be proved.

I can happily say I think Tony Blairs government is shite for these reasons etc. I can write an article which is critical of the Government/police and nothing will come of it.

Not every country can do that. In some countries to be critical of the govt is to be arrested the next day!!!

However I am more concerned about TV programmes being violent and supporting racist/homophobic/sexist views. We tend to desensitise our youth to violence so to them it is a part of society by showing more and more violent programmes and films on TV. I am worried about that.

Borat and Ali G are cheap comedy whatever the reason. I dislike comedians like Ali G for using others to humiliate to provide comedy. This is not fun.
