Let's hope for some movement mikkie, this stalemate is ridiculous and so reminiscent of the past 30 years. It's about time politicians on both sides had the balls to sit down together without preconditions and work out how to reconcile differences. Granted there is a lot of baggage in the GC-TC relationship, but the people have shown that to a certain degree they are able to mix without hostility, why are the politicians unable to follow suit?
However, regardless of the 'elections' (inverted commas inserted for those like Piratis who would no doubt point out their invalidity) in the north, Papadopoulos and his cronies will still view the victor as illegitimate, so I'm not sure it will change anything. Also, is it just me, or has Rauf been remarkably quiet during the past couple of months. Granted I don't have access to TC TV, but I haven't seen his usual entertaining mix of rhetoric and damnation
in the press. Has Erdogan reined him in? Insights please folks.
Or maybe he's leaving the hotheadedness to Christofias
right now...
