Limmasolean

Turkey's biggest problem numbers over one million – and 35,000 of them are in Cyprus right now. Talk about your two-edged swords!

Just wanted to know what you thought about Greece and the RoC when they entered the EU. Were they ready.

Zan wonders whether Greece and the RoC were ready to join the EU. I'll tell you something Zan, the UK STILL isn't ready to join the EU!

As for Turkey, I really don't have a problem with Turkey joining, as long as they play by the same rules as everybody else, and that means no illegal armies of occupation within EU countries.

As it happens, I love Turkey and have spent many happy holidays there. We used to visit Olu Deniz when it was still owned by the Captain George! The Turkish people are a cracking good bunch and, in my opinion, share many characteristics with the Greeks and Cypriots in turn. Ironic, really.

I think I did address the points with my loaded questions. The criterior for entry into the EU seems to have no real or stable measure.
The other point is that you make accusations without drawing any sort of line your self. you said Turkey is 100 years behind the rest of the world, I am sure in retrospect you will start to narrow things down to maybe more specific areas.

Er... just in case you weren't aware, the photo of George is actually retouched to look like Gul. That's Gul's moustache and eye bags. I'm a professional retoucher for my sins.
