Question: Cyprus and the island's Greek inhabitants?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Actually Zan Sahins initial points that Piratis has answered to are complete crap...even you must admit that. 2 nations joined in 1960? Resolutions calling for union with Greece after 1960?

How would you word it DT.

I think you'll find they were communities not nations. Zan.

Being a little pedantic there DT. The point is that they were of equal status.

All people who live in Turkey and are Turkish citizens are Turkish...This is even spelled out in Turkey's constitution...So Sahin Turk...taking a leaf out of the constitution of your "motherland" (I am assuming you were born in Turkey! ) All people who live in Cyprus and are citizens of Cyprus are Cypriots...Which part of that don't you understand???

If it were only that simple; life is seldom simply black or white. The Americans have fought a civil war this still has its mark on the psyche of those who were either a part of the "union" or the confederacy, and while Americans are patriotic, the U.S. is a far cry from what can be considered a nation-state. As for Canada, are the Quebecqois Canadian? Maybe to some, but not to others. Australia - a country with a many white racists that live under the facade of Canadianesque multicultural society, but are fry cry from being a tolerant society that is open to diverse cultures and norms.

Your response tries to blur the lines between civic identity and national/ethnic identity.

I know what it means to be a Turk, because I am one ... now do me a favour and answer my question. I have yet to read any respectable literature about Cyprus or the Cyprus problem that refers to the "Cypriot people" ... Cyprus is consistently described as an island (sometimes state) with two (founding) peoples: Turks and Greeks.

Amazing!

I mean, I can very easily ruin every single word and sentence that you wrote above, however, I feel it is completely pointless to waste any time doing so.

I can only say one thing, after what I have read above! Simply, that you are diluted beyond salvation!

soo you think the zurich agreement was right and just then is that what your telling

It was agreed to, accepted, and signed by all parties. There were guarantees for everyone and things would not be where they are today if the agreements were adhered to and fully implemented.

If you want me to take you seriously, don't speak / write in an insulting manner.

Yes I am a Turk and yes I was born in Kibris. In case you have not noticed, Cyprus has two dominant peoples, I am from the island's Turkish constituency. Get use to it because we, the Turks of Cyprus, are rightfully here to stay.

The Original Republic of Cyprus was established as a bi-communal state --- the Turks and Greeks were and are to be equals. Deal with it.

I have to disagree ... we, Turks, are a part of the Turkish nation and the Greeks of Cyprus are a part of the Greek nation. That's not a trick question or a statement - it's fact.

As I am a citizen of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ... It is safe to say that I am Turk.
