DT, with your roots in Saloniki have you even considered that your real roots might lie in Spain, and that you might belong to the Jewish Diaspora who were invited into the Ottoman Empire to live in peace.

I agree with Zan that Dalai LLama is one of the most remarkable men of our time...If we practised what he preaches (unconditional forgiveness, compassion and love!!!) we would not have a problem called Cyprus now...I consider myself blessed because I have met the man (the 14th) and shook his hand... (I am not a Tibetan Buddhist devote, btw,He came on the TV show I was producing in early 90s).When I introduced myself,he looked up and smiled that famous smile..."You know what your name means in Tibetan?" he asked...I did not. "It means Loving Kindness...Are you a loving and kind person Mr...????"

A memory I will cherish always...It was like shaking the hand of God... :)
Not bad for a little Cypriot boy from Paphos,is it???

Zan isnt it odd that when GR makes a statement contributers ask for proof, where then is YOUR proof re: the reincarnation of the DL?
I also support that Denktash is the saviour of the Turkish Cypriots. And the proof is that they still exist in Cyprus. ,But the top man is that great leader from Saloniki Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. :D

If he was a Jew he wouldn't have to wonder about it, he would definately know it since sephardic Jews (well all Jews actually) are very scholastic in keeping their family tree up to date, no Jews are "lost" in other ethnicities... ever

alexISS, I forgive your "ignorance" there are quite a few "lapsed" jews in the levant. I have first hand knowledge of them. I have indeed spoken to a few. They have intermarried with locals to escape the Germans during the war. :argue: Maybe after the creation of Israel the total jewish population of Selaniki went to Israel. (at least those who survived the Holocaust). I know a lot went to Turkey instead. I am sure there must be some Greek Jews left in Greece? Any admissions?

Of course there are Jews in Greece. What I'm saying is that they KNOW they are Jews. The ones you've spoken to also know they are Jews, obviously. I do not suggest that Jews remain "racially pure" by avoiding intermarrying with locals, I only stated that there are no Jews who don't know they are Jew

Actually by the time Israel was established there were not many Jews left in Thessaloniki anyway, only the few that were accidentally spared by the Nazis but, to my knowledge, those few remained
