The mix up was at Kiapyros' birth. They kept the afterbirth and threw away the baby. He was so ugly that the doctor slapped his mother.

Zan that was so mean!!! :(

They are old jokes that Kikapyros willunderstand being from the USA. I cannot remember which comedian said them but I am almost sure that he was Jewish.

@ Zan and BigOz,

You two must be getting old, to even remember the questions you guys asked only few days ago.

But you are correct, that the expiration date has already passed.

Zan, those are funny jokes, and the only comedian I can think of, who would be more than likely to tell such jokes, is Rodney Dangerfield.

I'm not offended. When it's funny, it's funny.

People always talk about how expensive it is to visit Cyprus for a holiday. Well, our bills have arrived so I thought I would make them public.

I would be interested to know, what would a similar trip would have cost in the "TRNC".?

Our Cyprus trip cost almost the same as our trip to Spain in April 06, with very much similar itinerary, but stayed in simpler hotels, based on what we could find on the spot each day at different locations. Non of the hotels were pre booked, except for the first two nights in Madrid.

It cost almost the same visiting the States the year before in October 05, doing all the National Parks in the Southwestern USA, using Motels for our Lodging.

Those who read the "report" in this thread, and if you have not, you can get the full "report" here http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11420 to find out what we did and what we did not do. We drove a lot, ate really well with wine, visited all the main attractions from Castles to Historic Ruins. We did not buy anything for ourselves or presents, other than few small items.

Here is the break down of our costs for two weeks in Cyprus in April 07.

Flight for two with Lufthansa... Zurich - Larnaca - Zurich...Total cost : 220 CYP.

Rental Car Compact A/C Manual 1.4 Astra.......Total cost : 275 CYP

Hotels...all 4 star by the coast with breakfast. Nicosia did not have a coast.!! Total cost: 714 CYP.

Cash spent....Total 635 CYP

Total Cost.........1,844 CYP

I don't think that's too bad for 2 weeks.

The memories and experiences are worth more!

So - after probably the most posted thread in the history of forums - ever.... just getting down to basics was it worth it and did you have a good time Kikapu?

Niki,

We don't have any complaints on the cost at all. Some thing were as same as in Switzerland, and then again, some things were more, but then again, tourist always pay more when they travel, just because of convenience.

The experience and memories are definitely worth much, much more, specially visiting the Kykkos School "B".!!

As you know, in the first day or so I had a lot of apprehension about the whole past events in Cyprus, the 43 year absence and of course the conversations on the forum for a whole year, before visiting Cyprus. Meeting our "Guardian Angel", a forum member first day in Cyprus and keeping in touch with us through out our trip was definitely a major plus. But once we had settled in, it really was a lot of fun. We could not wait to plan our next days event. I was really reaching out to meet people, and they responded in the same way most of the time. It took one or two of the GC's a little bit longer to warm up to me, but at the end, I never felt as if I was a "foreigner" in my own country. So over all, I would not hesitate for a minute to travel back to Cyprus tomorrow, if I chose to go. I have learnt so much of the area of the RoC. Where as members talked about places before on the forum, which was foreign to me, but now I can actually see the places in my head. So to answer your question directly, I've no regrets by going to Cyprus. I only wished, that I could have visited the North also, but due to circumstances, it will have to wait for another time.

Erm.... may I just say, Kicks' pre CY nervous paranoia seems a bit overblown to me. But yes, some might view it as a natural thing. Granted.

I see TC's nearly everyday in my line of work....they intermingle, come and go, go about their business without incident, as if they NEVER left in the first place.
There's a natural harmony about them that's quite relaxing, and its difficult to tell them apart from the GC's.
Alot of them speak fluent Greek.

'Kiks time in Cyprus' certainly brings back memories. Not least the lovely ladies we had on board. What are we left with now apart from Adabizim, but then he is no lady.

Just seen this.

Yorgozlu, I can't remember if the British citizenship was mentioned by me in this thread (and I don't want to read back 70+ pages to find out either) as to why I did not take the chance to go to the north at that time relating to the military service in the north, but I did mention the American citizenship concerns and here is why. Read section 8. (3) from an American passport.
