Shut up....The man is trying to tell his story....Although at the moment its like trying to get blood out of a stone. :x

I'll put everything for you to read, in the next day or so Zan, so that you don't have to stay up all night, waiting for it.

Under normal circumstances, I would be considered too old. By the way, I did celebrate my 52nd Birthday in Cyprus. It's the only Birthday I remember celebrating there. Anyway Soto, as Zan once stated, you are expected to serve in the "TRNC" military, even at age 70. Of course, £4,000 British Pounds will get you off the hook.

As the saying goes, "Money talks, Bullshit walks".

Happy birthday Kikapu :D I don't think that with 40.000 Turkish soldiers they would really need you in the army but it does sound a great way to get 4000 pounds from TCs  So every TC can just pay 4000 and not serve? If we had the same thing we wouldn't have an army

Where did you go? What did you do most of the time? What was the circumstances that you mention???

Hi LENA,

Spent few day in Larnaca, few days in Nicosia, few days in Paphos, few days in Limassol, and few days in Agia Napa, as well as driving 1558 Kilometers through most parts of the RoC, including the Troodos forest and mountains.

A bit of everything ha!!! Excellent...Kikapu...you skipped a question. I thought you was TC ... why you didnt go to the north?

I wanted to go to the "TRNC" so that I could have seen how things are there, but every time I made inquiries regarding the military service, I received different information from individuals as well as from officials. I was even told, I could be kept there against my will, to complete my NS. I tried to get clearer answers even just before I went to Cyprus, but once again, got just another version. I'm not in the habit of putting my welfare in the hands of others, specially, where "Rule of Law" is not equal to each person. It is more like "who you know and who you blow" than who you are, that will get you what you want. I did not want to end up in a situation, where I'm regarded as a "citizen" of the "TRNC", a unrecognized State, where the British and the American ( my other Nationalities) embassies could not provide any assistance to me.

I could have taken a chance and gone there I suppose, and perhaps nothing bad would have happened. I choose not to take a chance.

I thought so Kikapu...I know 3 more TC like you ... but I had the same believes as Sotos...Thanks for the info anyway...and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I hope you had really nice time on your birthday day

Thanks for the Birthday wishes Sotos.

I did not think there was an Army in the RoC. I saw no more than hand full of GC soldiers, in the whole of Cyprus, and mostly, they were at the check points. Spoke to two of them, at the Ledra Street checkpoint in Nicosia, where the "wall" came down.

A big welcome from me my dear friend , so sorry couldn't make it to Cyprus to see you , perhaps in London soon.
I'm very happy that you enjoyed your stay in our beloved Cyprus , you expressed your concerns to me on the phone just prior to your visit. I do hope that your fellow Cypriots saw you as just another Cypriot . Call me soon.

I have often posted that my wife , who looks very very English , has been visiting Cyprus , lately mostly on her own to stay with our daughter , for more than 20 years . She doesn't speak Greek . She has never encountered any anti British feelings and has always been treated with respect and kindness. There is no reason why one of our own should be treated in any other way.
