You wanted numbers.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Is that it??? And you created a dedicated thread just for that?

Ok Zan here goes... most likely because I read on another trustworthy website a 210K figure. Don't ask me to give you that link right now and I also found out about the 65K TC's that you haven't bothered to investigate!

I've since advanced to my toes.. :)

Seriously though if you were to persue more vigorously you might even get a 220k figure somewhere so the bottom line is that it's 205K or 210K ODD <---That's a key word.

IDPs: 210,000 (both Turkish and Greek Cypriots; many displaced for over 30 years) (2006)

(1) In 1974 the actual number of refugees was 201,000. But about 40,000 people who became refugees in 1974 because they lived in dangerous areas close to the line of occupation but within the Government Controlled Area returned to their homes in 1977.

What does this do to your numbers game

OK! GR. The Bottom site is from the RoC. Do you also dispute that one????

My concern was for your bad math. 9,000????

201'000 less 40'000 is a lot more than just 9,000. This brings the number down to 161'000. Still a lot I know but it does explain why there are so many numbers out there and why Piratis bullshits so much.

The CIA file gives a figure of 201,000 in total with TCs and GCs. If we believe the 200,000 figure that you guys throw around then there were only 1000 TC refugees. Gee what a dilemma.

You boast about the accuracy of your numbers. Well........I think you need to have a rethink on ALL that you have quoted before because the accuracy part is no longer a valid part of yours or Piratis' CV.

Yawn....

Remember this UN document from yesterday posted at your request?

As Table 1 outlines, there are several categories of displaced per- sons and other people in need of help. The first, and by far the largest category, are the Greek Cypriot refugees in the Government controlled area of the south. Official statistics in the field estimate that at least 200,000 Greek Cypriots have been displaced from Turkish occupied areas. Some 30,000 of these people have found shelter with relatives or friends, and need a minimum of relief assistance. The remainder, how- ever, have needed shelter as well as general relief. In addition to these "semi-permanent" refugees, thousands of other Greek Cypriots, living in areas bordering the ceasefire line, have been temporarily displaced, because of actual Turkish troop movements in their area or the fear and threat of new military operations by Turkish forces.

Get over it Zan!

Get over what? That you guys pick and choose what suits you and the others are all lies. You want to trump my numbers with that of the UN when the UN means nothing to you. You can yawn all you like....Does not change facts.

Besides the fact that your example backs up mine with just a slight error in the numbers of the "semi-permanent" refugees, what ever that might mean.

Yeah whatever...

The moral of this story is don't take me on in the future unless you first do your research.
(and even then I'd be careful just in case)

Catch you later.
