Driving to Cyprus

Hi

What's the easiest route to drive to Cyprus from the UK, how long does it take, & how much do the ferries cost?

Cheers

You can drive to Athens and ferry to Limassol -- Louis or Salamis lines.

Or drive to Salerno Italy and catch the freighter cruise ship to limassol and that's with Grimaldi freighter cruises .

Personally I think the one from Salerno is the best -- but then again it's probably because I like travelling on ships

Nigeboy, we drove our car here from UK but decided to make it a long holiday.

We went all over Europe but decided to avoid 'The Eastern Block' countries as we were driving a premium car.

We went Bari - Patras (With car, lux cabin was about GBP£350)

Drove to Athens then had to put the car on a commercial RO/RO ferry from Ikonio port using Salamis. Cost around CYP£230. We had to fly from Athens to Cyprus and meet the car a day or two later.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bill, Can you tell me, could my husband and I drive a lorry over to Cyprus using the ferries you suggested, as we wish to transport our dogs and cats, as we have several and the cost to fly them is obviously really expensive. Do you know of anyone who has done this rather than fly them? Les

Les,
Get in touch with George Mondial transport in enfield as he does a weekly overland truck service to Cyprus so may be able to answer any questions you have or even be able to offer you a solution.

I'm not sure they cater for animals -- punch in Grimaldi freighter cruises into Google and give the UK reps a call or email Grimaldi direct .

You can go all the way from Southampton with this ship but then you would miss the experience of driving through some of the more beautiful parts of Europe.
