It is only Turks, (and I include TCs who support ethnic cleansing) who can get away with hypocrisy in its purest form, and actually keep a straight face while doing it.

OK, I shall stop thinking about myself, the majority of GCs want a one-state solution, the TCs do not. What community are you thinking of Shitmaran when you support the 'TRNC' (which was a state based on the ethnic cleansing of GCs) and the massive lit up 'TRNC' flag on our Mountain?

What I see in your post Lena, is the same ideal situation that many talk about. Cyprus is magically going to become one country again, but you are dreaming! You will be waiting forever. Even our leaders have said yes to a BBF, what do you think that is, it will still be stealth partition anyway, with TCs dominating the north and GCs the south. Explain how I am selling us out? Explain how you will make Cyprus one? People like you enjoy talking about ideals, but never on substance. I am being realistic. Are you going to force TCs to unify? You talk as if it is my choice; and ignore the fact that TCs have to agree with your ideal view, AND THEY DON'T. Show me one Poll, where TCs prefer a one-state solution above the rest, and I will be very happy.

I am sorry to sound patronising, but this makes me laugh. What do you think the people care about: their land and houses. What do you think the main human rights breaches are about: GCs being removed from their land and houses. Of course it is about land and we want it all back! But eventually, realism must kick in. My 4 options do not lead to one conclusion, you are simply wrong. One of my options was wait for TCs to change their mind and unite with us, (although I did say don't hold your breath because I cannot see it happening); that was a very different conclusion to selling our property, so please refrain from making misleading statements, when trying to malign me.

This is the whole point though Lena, a minority of TCs want unification. Tell me what is going to change? You have heard Zan, VP etc, it does not matter what happens, they will always favour partition, because they see themselves as Turks, well, well before Cypriots. In the North, the majority are settlers, are you going to force them all to leave? Will Turkey agree? How can we stop them voting on a solution? You are right, I do think we are being naive, because we keep reiterating what we want the solution to be, but not recognising there are two parties at the table, and we have to get the other's agreement. 'The other' being now Turks as much as TCs, because there are so many settlers. I am asking what can we do to change this? And here is your response:
Wait another 3 years for another survey, hoping for a difference. In the meantime, pray 'TRNC' is forever unrecognised.

Simon, I agree with you that lots of the TC doesn’t want the unification…yes Zan, VP show me that. I start my research which is about higher education in both sides…and I had in mind that TC will refuse to give me interviews knowing that I am GC. But that didn’t happen. They push each other outside the room to talk about their views. Only one girl didn’t want to talk to me. But her friends gave me interviews. I had to say thank you I don’t need more…because they was so many. I believe that the new generation will change the situation. The new generation will change the percentages. Yes I keep my hope after one month that I talk with TC. My hopes are in the new generation that’s why I said that we need time. Well yes…I will wait until that will be reality. I am sure that either the partition or the unification is out of our door waiting fpor us to open. We have to fight, do as much as we can…if you made the same poll before the opening of the “borders” do you thing that you was going to have the same numbers? Before the Anan? Things happen and opinions change…well the future is bright. At least as I see it. I am optimist. I learn to come up from every difficulty, I learn to handle my grief…I learn to move on. Is not that difficult you know my dear.

I don’t think that TRNC will be recognised as it is now. So I will keep my hopes and do as much as I can. You know what is the problem? That most of us…you just hope. We do not do anything to change our future. I am not willing to do that… and I already found my way.

Your way what exactly is? Which of the choices that you put for us you have chosen? How many parts of your country are you willing to give up? How many parts of your country are you willing to sacrifice?

So what bothers you? Partition or the 18%. If they offered you partition with the land you occupy now you would say no? I don't think so, because you do everything you can to get the "trnc" recognized!

Lena,

OK, TCs have given you interviews, but that doesn't really say a lot does it? If they even refused to talk to you because you were GC, I would have found that shocking and extremely racist. So really this does not prove much or say anything. You believe the young will change the situation, I am not so sure. I believe it is actually the young TCs that are more in favour of the 'TRNC' and more nationalistic than the old, because many of them are Turkish settlers. You believe that the new generation will change the percentages, well, I have not seen any research that may suggest this; in fact I have heard the opposite. In your post, you seem to really engage with wishful thinking in its most extreme form; in the sense that you have convinced yourself that somehow, the new generation is going to come and sweep all our problems away. The reality, in my opinion, will be somewhat different. Where are the protests of the new generation, with regard to the huge 'TRNC' flag, for example? I really cannot see what basis your optimism is founded upon.

I believe that if a solution does not arrive soon, the 'TRNC' will be incrementally promoted into a fully viable state within 10-15 years. The current situation cannot last forever.

I was simply asking the question, which of the 4 options will GCs choose? Simply waiting, as you say, hoping for a miracle, could easily cost us everything. However, I will go along with the majority's will.
