3 years after referendum

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

3 years after referendum

Today is the 3rd anniversary of the Annan plan referendum. How do you think 24 April 2007 would be if Annan plan was accepted? Do you think your own life would be better or worst? If the referendum was today would you vote the same again like you did in 2004?

There is no way to know but you can have an opinion about it in the same way that you voted yes or no because you had an opinion but you didn't know for sure what would happen.

It would probably be a day of celebrations and partying. Everyone would of gotten used to the status of the island even the ones who really opposed the plan. Everyone would just be getting on with their lives, we would slowly be gaining that Cypriot identity people always talk about...specially on a day like this. TC/GC relations would be very good after 3 years. Famagusta would be open. Media from all over the world would be in Cyprus...

I can only see good things happening.

I think we would all of been better off then where we are and have ever been since 50s.

Well with the plans to destroy the military of the Cyprus Republic anytime the Turkey wanted to, they could do anything they want like invade the whole island.

But alot of unrealistic, deluded leftists would be happy.

Why is it that the more you post the more you resemble Grivas? Same nationalistic views and obsessed with the left.

Some examples of what Annan plan would bring after a few years:
1) We would be living in an undemocratic country
2) Our economy would be far worst than it is now
3) We would be realizing that what we have accepted is partition, not unification
3) Apart from Varosia there would be problems in the land that should be returned
4) Most of the settlers that were supposed to leave they would not
5) The "solution" forced on us would cause friction and conflicts
6) There would be no money to pay the compensations

We would all be wondering where is the solution, since we would have more problems than before. Even worst, we would not even have a government to fight for our (reduced) rights since we would be relegated from a state to a community and the central government would be unable to agree for anything important.

Of course for TCs it would be better, since the "trnc" would be upgraded from a pseudo state to a confederal state, they would have partition legalized, they would be in EU, they would have direct flights and no kind of isolation, and the dysfunctioning central government would not bother them very match since they would know that by maintaining this for a few years they would eventually force the GCs to accept an official partition in a Serbia-Montenegro way.

It is not a coincidence that the majority of TCs voted yes and the majority of GCs voted no. The solution or "solution" of the Cyprus problem will affect all of us directly, and everybody knows what his personal interests are very well. This is why in such referenda what the leaders say can affect only a small minority of people.
