Hey Sassy,

Here is the info you wanted - it's on their own website then in the Press & Articles. But this link should take you to the page straight away http://www.atlanticahotels.com/article.php?id=272

15 July is mentioned in the next to the last paragraph

Hi caz, we too are booked into the studios and apartments and are due to arrive on 21st july, same as you.

went to thomsons travel agents tree weeks ago and was told there was no building work going on at all!!!!. I told them that it was like a bombsite but they did not believe me. We have stayed at this hotel for the last 15 years and have purposly picked it because of its facilities and it was a very good hotel (hence all the visits) .

So i would be very interested to hear if anybody has been in these last couple of weeks, and what the situation is?

Hi Dawny, obviously because we are due to arrive on the same day, if you hear anything from Thompson, or have been given the option to move, I would be interested to hear. Just hope we dont arrive and the hotel is not open!! Dont really want to spend my holiday next to a building site. This is our first visit to Cyprus, and i was looking forward to it!!

I have been told that they can move us at the last minute, just hope they give us the same facilities etc.

I collected our tickets on friday which still states the Atlantic Oasis, so fingers crossed it will be open (very optimistic!!).

The apartments are on the opposite side of the road to the Atlantica Oasis and they have their own separate pool area and reception. I doubt they will be affected by any of the work going on but all of the facilities such as daytime and evening entertainment usually takes place in the main hotel.

Hi, I am travelling on 15th July to the Atlantica Gardens Apartments and rather than ask for an update from Direct Holidays (who probably would tell me that everything was fine) I emailed the Atlantica Hotel Group and received the following response from the Front House Manager at the Atlantica Gardens:
'Good afternoon Mr Hunt
thank you very much for your email and for choosing the Atlantica Gardens for your holidays.
Yes, the Atlantica Oasis is under major renovations and it is planned to reopen on the 15th of July 2007. The operation of the Atlantica Gardens is not affected at all from the renovations.
The only thing is that because the clients of the Gardens have the right to use the facilities of the Oasis, they cannot use the big swimming pool and the gym of the Oasis.
There is a swimming pool, pool bar, indoor bar and a restaurant here at the Gardens.

if there is anything else you need to know please let me know.

Best regards'

I hope this addresses some of your queries, although I myself won't be happy until I check-in to the apartments on the 15th

atlantica oasis hotel

Postby flashnclare » Tue Jun 26, 2007 4:36 pm

Hi Everyone
For all of you who have booked to go to the atlantica oasis i would seriously look at changing it. I am in contact with a lady who lives up from the hotel and she says it is like a bomb site and they don't seem to be getting any further with the work. She has e-mailed me some pictures and the hotel is in a state. I booked mine with direct holidays and after making a couple of phone calls i have been able to change to a different hotel. For you who have booked the Atlantica Gardens across the road, don't get me wrong they are nice and do have a pool but its quite small, i would still look at changing because all the restraunts, entertainment etc are over in the hotel. I stayed in the atlantica last year and checked out the apartments across the road and nothing goes off there at all its all in the hotel.

Have you noticed that on the atlantica website they are saying planned to open. I made a phone call to the hotel direct and they have told me 15th july, but when i asked her if this was a definate date, she replied we don't no, we cannot say.

The lady i am in contact with is in the UK at the moment and returning to Cyprus on 3rd july. She is going to take some more pictures and send them to me. She says they will be lucky if it reopens before september.

Think about it the travel agents have got your money now they're not really bothered, change before its too late.

If anyone would like to see the pictures please e-mail me

[email protected]

Good Luck

Hi All
In addition to those above, I also contacted the Atlantica chain of hotels with regard tot he situation with both the hotel and the apartments and got the following reply:

Thank you for your email and for choosing the Alantica Gardens for your holidays.
The Atlantica Oasis is scheduled to reopen on the 15th of July 2007.

Best regards

Andri Zodiatou(mrs)
Front Office Manager

Atlantica Oasis Hotel & Gardens

Despite what they say in the email, I am not overly confident that the work will be completed. As such I have sent another email asking what the contingency plans are if the hotel is not ready by this date. Once I get a reply I will post it. I am concerned and I am not even going until the end of August. Not wishing to sound pessimistic, but I have family friends in Cyprus and they are not sounding too optimistic either - mainly because of the extreme heat in the summer and the slow progress that this leads to.
I hope that this helps some people, but I thought I'd better share.
Good Luck Folks

Hi all

Went in to see my travel agent (yet again) yesterday, and showed them the photos (same as what Clare has) which were taken at the end of May.

They rang Olympic - the tour op - who advised that the hotel had been taken off their building report. Which apparantly means that major building works have been completed. Somebody had also rang Olympic on Monday to say that they'd heard that the hotel had been demolished!!!

So now I am waiting on an email from Olympic people in resort to tell me what exactly is going on.

Will advise when I hear anymore news.....

hi,
I can not believe all the tour operators we are all dealing with can not give a straight answer. We have been e-mailing the hotel and speaking to the travel agent who in turn have been speaking to Cosmos but no one is prepared to give an honest answer and everyone is being strung along. Cosmos have agreed to give us our money back on the 15th July if the hotel does not open but they are fully aware that we fly out on our honeymoon on the 25th leaving us only 10 days to find something else. They are banking on the fact that if they keep us waiting we will have to accept there change of hotel although I have already told them the Miramare is not an option.

The problem as we see it is there are a lot of people traveling to the hotel over the next few months who are unaware all this is happening and will simply accept what ever is offered and the tour operators have no regard for the rest of us. In our case thay have our money and they are in the driving seat.

If any one else has photo's as Clare has I would be grateful for a copy so that I can take them to the travel agent and presure them to get cosmos to come clean. The e-mail address is [email protected].
