If you have ever watched property suddenly come together at completion - then you may understand what moved on considerably means.

Once the outer shell is completed and relevant wiring etc all done - you would be surprised as to how quickly the rest of it can come together. We've watched houses being built and no sooner has the outside been finished off and skimmed over, we see people moving their stuff inside.

Remember, all of the piping for water and electricity is laid before the flooring and internal walls are finished off so it's only a case of the internal fitments being installed. You will usually find the developers suddenly put 3 times as many workers onto the project at final completion and the work can be finished off in record time.

I would be inclined to see how it all looks by the end of next week. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Let's hope so, anyway as I doubt there will be many rooms in hotels left in Limassol in the middle of July....

I have been watching this forum with interest during the past few weeks, we WERE due to go the the Atlantica Oasis on 18 July, 2007. I had contacted Thomsons and the emailed the hotel direct to ask if the hotel would definitely be opening on the 15th July. Both replied last week to confirm this date was still on. However yesterday I received a letter from Thomsons informing us the hotel would not be ready and they have reserved a room at the Louis Pheathon Beach Hotel in Paphos, alternatively giving us the option if we did not like the look of this hotel we could change to any other hotel in the brochure, but would have to pay the price difference (both options with some compensation). We had also spoken to a Local Thomson travel Agent last week who had very appropriately just returned from the Louis Pheathon Beach Hotel and highly recommeded it. Whilst there she had spoken to some of the Thomson guests who had been transferred from the Atlantica, who also liked the hotel and appeared to be enjoying their holiday. Having looked at the reviews and read the information in the brochure we will probably take the offer of this hotel, and accept that we will now be holidaying in Paphos rather than Limmasol

To mummieslittlemunchkins

I've been told not everyone is being offered that hotel I think they look at who booked the most in advance etc. I received my letter yesterday and it stated if I didn't want to accept that hotel then I could choose any hotel in their brochure and not incur any administration costs. My compensation that I have received is £20 per adult and £10 per child. I know it probably doesn't sound much but in essence I have been upgraded to a 4star hotel so I'm happy and I've checked the hotel out on the internet and it looks really nice plus the reviews have been good about it as well.

Hope this helps

Hi caz, and everyone else. We have just had a letter from thomsons this morning saying that the atlantica oasis and gardens will not be available to us on the 21st july, and gave us the option to stay in the phapos garden apartments in paphos. we have ended up cancelling our holiday with thomsons, as we have friends who live in limassol who we go to see every year, and did not want to be that far away from them. So they have given us a full refund of all monies paid and £20.00 each compensation. I have been down to the travel agents this morning and managed to book the Tasiana complex apartments in limassol going on 11th august for a fortnight and it was £300.00 pounds cheaper!!!! It is only a 2star plus complex but hey,its in limassol ,we get to see our friends ,and it has everything we need so i am happy. We are now travelling with olympic holidays. I have been told i will get my refund in the next 3-7 working days from thomsons. Hope everyone else gets to where they want to go.
from happy dawn.

hi guys,
we booked the apartments at the atlantica oasis, travelling out of edinburgh on the 15th july. we got a letter last week telling us we could use the apartments but that the facilities would be minimal practically everything except the lobby bar and one pool are out of use!!!! not much use when there is 10 of us going aged 4-64!!! we spent 5 hours with our travel agent and eventually kept our flights only with first choice and cancelled our accomadation, we then booked apartments with hotels4u.com at the paramount aparthotel in protaras.we are now going B&B instead of selfcatering and still saved ourselves £300!!!! we did not find first choice particularly helpful when we tried to sort this out ...thankfully our travel agent was great!!!
hope everyone gets this awful situation sorted and has a great holiday....GOODLUCK!!!
