Ilios, his parents past away 40-50 years ago, and somehow nobody in his immediate family can recall those dates.

What a coincidence. I'm also from Kaymakli (Kücük) and have just been to Cyprus, after 43 years. I went to get a Birth Certificate from the District Office in Nicosia, but was told to fill out the forms that they gave me and take them to the court, to be sworn in.

I did not bother. It might be different for the GC's.

My dear friend I hope that it isn't different for the GSC's. This would really be ashame that there would be such discriminationn surely not after arguments for unification.

Why not just make up some dates that would seem appropriate ?. If you can't find the real dates out, even with on the ground help in Cyprus, the South African consulate are unlikely to bother to check their veracity, and if they tried would face the same problems you are finding, so would give up !.

It may be the same for everyone, that needs to get a replacement Birth Certificate . You are asked to swear on the "Holly Book" to tell the truth I guess, if the Government does not have the records themselves.

I did not bother to find out.
