How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Right Wing GC's

Postby T_C » Wed Apr 18, 2007 4:17 pm

Thousands of ordinary people on both sides of Cyprus welcomed with joy and relief the demolition of the divisive wall at Ledra Street. For decades it has functioned as a symbol of hatred and division between the two communities. This why, its demolition filled the majority of the Cyprus people, Greeks and Turks, with feelings of optimism, and as a step towards peace and reunification of Cyprus.

On the morning of Saturday 10th March 2007, the "Initiative for the Opening of the Checkpoints" organized a musical event at the end of Ledra Street to celebrate this important event.

While the event was in progress, a group from the extreme right wing "Chrysi Avgi" (Golden Dawn) and "EFEN" (National Voice of Greek-souled Youth), completely provokingly, tried to invade the event with blue and white flags and banners with two-headed eagles, shouting their known slogans "Good Turk a dead Turk", "Cyprus is Greek", "There is not Greek - Turkish friendship as long as there is Turkish invasion". With raging intentions they attacked some participants of the event. It was obvious that their effort was to create conflict and to disrupt the event. (more)

What would these people do if Cyprus was unified?

Does anyone think these people and the likes of would ever manage to disrupt peace so much as to cause more (serious) problems?

Or do you think they would just dissolve, get used to it and shut the f*** up?

I am not impressed!

TC it would be a joy indeed if there would just be one checheckpoint where they would NOT ISSUE ME A VISA.
More opening where the GCs are required to show a passport or ID to get a visa are a disgrace for me.

As for the other issue of nationalists, it all depends what kind of flags will be allowed in Cyprus. Imo it is imperative that it becomes illegal for any cypriot to wave other nations flags publicly. There must be only one flag foth for the Central and the 2 Fed states. This way the nationalists will have no means of expression

As far as I know those GC nationalists there were members of Hrysi Avgi (golden dawn) a well known fascist nationalistsic group. Don't be mistaken from the video the people there were about 200 members of the "organisation for free movement in Cyprus-an NGO of GCs+TCs) and about 50 members of Hrysi Avgi who went there to provoke. In the video you can even see posters the NGO held, with writings in Greek and Turkish
