Simon , you will recall some of my posts and how passionate I'm regarding our Cypriot identity , but have always accepted that there are Cypriot Greeks , Cypriot Turks and Cypriot Armenians , etc etc. Just as in the UK we have English , Scottish Welsh etc etc commonly referred to as Brits.
We are Cypriots first and no one can argue this description for the people of Cyprus. We are also Greek , Turkish Armenian Cypriots , not forgetting the new arrivals from Eastern Europe or indeed British Cypriots.
To misinterpret our identity , as the village idiot does , is a tragedy. No T/C should be denied the right to be a Turkish Cypriot and equally applicable to the G/Cs etc etc. To refer to the communities as Greek or Turkish or English speaking Cypriots is indeed a fallacy. I'm a Cypriot first and foremost but I'm a Greek Cypriot and here I make it clear that IM NOT A GREEK , BUT a Cypriot Greek.
As such I consider all Cypriots to be my compatriots and to share along with me all of Cyprus irrespective of majorities or minorities.
