just wanted to reply to all the comments regarding black people, jamaicans, reggae etc...... i am black( a beautiful sexy brown actually) my parents are jamaicans who live in paphos now, i was born and raised in london uk, and i will be playing reggae music throughout cyprus over the coming years.. i dont see racists because i`m not bothered by them, most of them are cowards these days anyway!! lol so ...the moral of my message is ...............bring it on... what doesnt kill me can only make me stronger...... i love cyprus

Yes, the term 'Jungle' is a music genre in its own right as we know. There is infact a reggae bar in Cyprus (but the reggae they play is like white people reggae - no disrespect meant but reggae fans will know what i mean...no real revival Studio 1 kinda stuff). Anyway, this bar had a huge cut-out of Cyprus on the front painted in red, gold and green! I wanted to take it home.

There was also I Greek guy in Napa who I THINK was a Rasta (but my guess is that he just liked dreadlocks and incense) and he owned some kinda supposed Rasta themed shop.

Hold tight Isalice - im Greek Cypriot and love Reggae...........and Soul and Rare Groove and Hip Hop and Jazz lol.

Must be coming out the closet time for reggae fans..
I must admit during my college days in London,i lived in Brixton (before the riots) and listened to nothing but reggae music...In fact i am one of the fortunate ones who got to see Bob Marley & The Wailers live at the Crystal Palace Concert Bowl..
Reggae music is more than a genre, its a way of life..
My other favorites were Peter Tosh,Bunny Wailer,Gregory Isaacs,Desmond Dekker,Big Youth,Third World..

Not forgetting Toots and the Maytalls. Max Romeo. Marcia Griffith and The Upsetters.

I could go on and on I've got shedloads of Trojan vinyl in my loft

Try listening to Trojan radio on the web. They love it at work when I have it blaring out.

PS Went to see Desmond Dekker when I worked in Tenerife (1990) and he was headlining a concert out there..... Big disapointment
