Unfortunately we have lost!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby T_C » Mon Apr 16, 2007 1:50 am

I know this snake. Either way, a solution would only benefit the actual people of Cyprus so therefore it's unimportant compared to the keeping of land/money/military bases or whatever else Cyprus and it's problems are being abused for..these people are gaining a lot from the problems of Cyprus and it's people so they couldn't care less about a solution.

I still say that if they really wanted a solution they could do more to get it started. For instance I think Tpap and Talat should be speaking on a regular basis, solution or no solution. Why don't they? Oh no because meeting up regularly would look as though theres some sort of trust and a will to reconcile between the two, and they wouldn't want to give off that kind of impression to the people would they? Instead all we get is dumb excuses like "it's of no use talking with Talat because he's Turkeys puppet" so what? Would any of you NOT meet with Talat if you were Tpap? Seriously? Ofcourse you would, it would be the professional thing to do no matter how useless it may be. It would be ok if it weren't doing any damage but their antics are keeping the TC's vs GC's fire burning...

They seem to only agree on meeting up as a last resort, and they can't even do that properly. It's an embarrassment and a pity these two "presidents" can't even meet up to START to discuss an island as small as Cyprus .

Governments can do whatever the hell they want. Look at the Iraq war, once they want to do something they have the power to do it despite what the people want. If they REALLY wanted to solve the Cyprus problem they already would have at least initiated some thing, even if it was the slightest thing. They're going to have to start somewhere, why are they presidents if they haven't the capability to at least TRY and solve problems within their own country. All they seem to do is buy themselves more time NOT to solve the problems and even put obstacles against eachother to detter from wanting a solution. Each time one side is ready the other backs off. They're just playing games with eachother, I can't even take the Cyprus issue seriously anymore. It's an absolute joke.

If these people aren't doing this on purpose then they're truly incompetent and they're all a complete embarassment for their countries, people and professions either way!

But its not Talat who is actually keeping part of our country under occupation - its Turkey. So it makes more sense to speak to the leaders of Turkey. Besides, are you not following the recent news about the 'July 8 Talks'?....aparently, Talat doesnt want to move forward and wants to stick the Annan plan! Also, I wouldnt meet with Talat as he seems totally unprofessional in his antics in the media in the past and his double standards. End of the day, whether you like it or not, its Turkey who calls the shots in the north and Talat seems like he's in power just to delay the leader of Cyprus speaking to the leader of Turkey.

PENPOINT, some points:

1) Most people in the referendum voted based on their own opinion, and they didn't just blindly follow what they were told.

2) For the "sheep" that do what they are told, what is important is what their party says, not the president. Are you going to accuse Christofias for being a millionaire that would personally lose from a solution as well?

3) Papadopoulos is the president because we, the majority, want him to be the president.

Conclusion: Papadopoulos was there because we wanted him to be there. Papadopoulos rejected the Annan plan because we wanted him to reject it. We rejected the Annan plan because it was an unfair partition plan, and not because anybody told us to do it.

If fact, if Papadopoulos supported the Annan plan we wouldn't have voted him for president in the first place. We elected him because we saw the results of the "good boy - pants down and bend" policies of Vassiliou- Cleredes and we wanted such kind of suicidal policies to end before it was too late.

The argument that Papadopoulos doesn't want solution is ridiculous. For these kind of people what is most important than everything else is glory. If Papadopoulos had the chance to solve the Cyprus problem he would and be immortalized for it.

What Papadopoulos doesn't want or care about are the useless "negotiations" which are basically the Turks blackmailing us by holding our land as ransom to accept their own terms for our capitulation. If I was a president I wouldn't have "negotiations" under those conditions either.

People like Papadopoullos, accused for murdering his friend to marry his widow for money, money laundering for Slobodan Milosevitch, sliding secret deals for Oil in Cyprus, a miilionaire whose property value will diminish if there IS a solution, will never want any kind of solution.... Do you really believe that Papadopoullos cried because he is a patriot when he called for OXI in April 2004? Or because he felt that a YES would have diminished his own property?
And this Famagusta issue? did you see it? Please see my post for Famagusta...33 years late arent they? signatures for gods sake..if signatures would work other than for marketing, then the TCs would have managed direct flights to the North directly from Heathrow's Terminal 4!!!

PenPoint, for a moment I though you might be a serious interlocutor, and I thought that perhaps I should give it a try! Unfortunately, after reading all the above garbage, I see no point wasting my time and energy!

My friend, whatever you name as garbage above, could be an "opinion" which as such is welcome in a forum like this, or is your domination of this forum as such, endangered? Sorry but we all will do with some answers... As for the contents I am not accusing Papadopoullos for anything, otherwise I would have sued his guts for not letting me go home to Famagusta where i come from!

PenPoint, although I do not have his permission, on behalf of Papadopoulos I would like to express his apologies to you, for not letting the country and the entire GC community role down into much more severe adventures and turmoil than we currently face, and for not letting the majority of the GC refugee’s rights to become permanetly eradicated; in order to secure yours and another 25,000 peoples return to Varosha.

Aren’t you a bit too selfish to be saying the above?

For a start, Charalambous is not a journalist but an economist. Secondly, yes, we have lost, from the moment we elected as our President a confirmed hard liner, anti solution patriarch, who in the course of his long political life has rejected all solutions proposed, since 1959. He even rejected the London Zurich agreements, only to confess a couple of years ago at Intercollege, that those agreements were a blessing in disguise. Nevertheless, he spent all his energy since 1960 trying to anull the agreements and did not hesitate to write up a Plan that promised to unhihilate anyone (the Turks) who might get in the way.

We have a President who is totally discredited outside Cyprus and makes vague efforts every now and again to galvanise friendships with backstage players of the likes of the Chinese ad the Russians! (By the way, can someone inform us as to what happened to the Chinese cannons which he so proudly told us that we bought at a price in excess of 60 million bananas?). We have a President who has managed within four years to deguildify Turkey and to reverse the opinion of the international community that now is convinced that we are the intransigent party. Oh yes, we indeed have lost out, because the President adheres to the Dountas dogma which states that we should wait for as long as it takes until the balance of power tilts in our favour and then liberate the occupied parts!!!

Kifeas has stated on a number of occasions that democratically elected officials should not be criticised. I suggest he opens the democracy book and read it from the beginning.

So just because some idiot said the reason Papadopoulos said OXI was because his own immovable property will diminish in value is enough reason to believe he is right, no?

First of all have you asked how much property Papadopoulos owns in the occupied?? Have you asked how much the Leventis family (his wife) owns in the occupied? Have you asked how his own bussiness (from where he makes his millions) will be affected by a solution.
Secondly who told you the prices of immovable properties will drop after a solution? Even Vasilious study which accounted for huge pieces of GC to be lost land predicted that they would stabilise for a few years and then start rising again.

If my information is correct the Leventis Family is included in the 130 GC applications for damages from the Turks... and their property in the North is less than their property in the South near Amathus Hotel in Limassol about 9 million CYP. Anyhow, it could be property devaluation as far as I am concerned, (who would be based on a loser like Vasiliou anyway?)but am i wrong to imply that Papadopoullos enjoys his position along with Talat if there is NO SOLUTION? A change in the country as big as that awaited could diminish their property and why would they take the risk? Even if Vasiliou is right? Nevertheless, no progress in the Cyprus Problem has a reason...can you define that? Please excuse my questioning but some answers are needed...

First of all don't be ridiculus and call Cyprus north and south, east and west, we are a tiny place here not the United State of America, not Korea. I realise you are from East Famagusta, no? (trying to be ridiculous myself)

So for a start there is occupied area in Cyprus, and free areas.

Second I hve answred a lot of questions so far but we don't seem to go nowhere. You have to take a little quizz so that I learn what your thinking capacity is. Here it is:

You are Papadopoulos. You 've been elected president and you are overwhelmed by glory. From village boy you noiw turned to be the First citizen! You have this Cyprus Problem to solve that would make you a hero, write your name in history, gain you your own properties in the occupied and gift you one million applauses and best wishes from all Christian Orthodox priests and saints. But hell if you solve it your property currently worth 9 million will devaluate to 4 million. How would you solve this problem?

Depending on your answer we may proceed or just forget all about it.

NB.You are not Fanos in disquise are you? He too was from Famagusta, he too was a journalist, you seem to know every detail he farted in here, "pen-point" looks like a nick for a journalist to me....

Give me a marine compass maybe it's something like half the Atalantic Ocean.
