Iceman the constitution does not define "ethnic groups" neither was drawn on that basis. Can you seriously define the Armenians ethnic Greeks just because for purposes of the constitution they were included in the GC community? Can you define the gypsies who originate from Spain and some Arabic Countries as ethnic Turks just because they were included in the TC community?

Ethnicity in a multicultural society is not static it evolves and erodes by assimilation. Up until today the Maronites go to their churches and do half their prays in Arabic, their bishop comes from Lebanon, they report their problems (including their problems with Talat) to the Pope in Rome, and we have people here saying they are just a religious group, as for example the GC Jehovan witnesses? No they are not, they are an ethnic group originating from the Lebanese ethnic group of Christian Maronites, which by themselves are one of the ethnic groups that makes up the Lebaneze nation. Their ethnicity has been eroded by assimilation but has not yet vanished. It will take another generation or so.

But this Eoka b oglani called Polis, thought he discovered gold to take off his hate and support the other Junta oglani called Nikeforos.

At last you opened your mouth in the one and only thread you should have spoken a long time ago.
And even doing so you spoke wrong. Go do some reading of what defines an ethnic group. In Cyprus we have (rather had) 5 ethnic groups, considering the Russians and Europeans now we might have 100. These ethinic groups CONSTITUTE THE CYPRIOT NATION, the same way the 1000 ethnic groups in the US constitute the AMERICAN NATION.

We Greek Cypriots are more like the bosnian serbs or kosovar albanians, the 1000 ethnic groups in the AMERICAN NATION is not a good analogy as the difference is that we greek cypriots consider ourselves greeks and part of the hellenic nation, sure we are cypriots in a national sense but we are greek in an ethnic sense, hence we use 2 flags in cyprus to identify ourselves and have the greek national anthem.

Free_Cyprus is an idiot who is half Greek Cypriot half Turk Cypriot, hence the only way to justify his existence is to push this nonsense about one people talking 2 different languages

Dont get me wrong we have lots of similarities with the Turk Cypriots but it does not mean we are the same people, also we will never give up our identities as hellenes, this is who we are since ancient times, you cant forget your history, language, identity, culture, religion etc, this difference in peoples on the island should be respected most of all...

Where did he get it from? Well I don't know where the feck you have been but the majority of Cypriots have had Hellenic roots since around 1200BC in the Bronze Age! So he has got it from over 3,200 years of history! For over 3,200 years; Cyprus has been a Hellenic dominated island demographically, culturally and religiously. Just because a few neo-Cypriot morons want to create a new 'only Cypriot' identity, (as for some odd reason they think TCs would much rather prefer to reunite on that basis); it does not mean thousands of years of history can be forgotten.

You neo-Cypriots should be ashamed of yourselves. Distorting the ethnic situation and history of Cyprus. All in a lame attempt to hide that you yourselves in the past or your leftist ancestors had opened Cyprus for a Turkish invasion by your desires to dismante the only true military force capable of repelling an outside attack. Your desire in the past and present to parade around and support the Third World Non Aligned Movement and never secure support from the powerful USA and NATO for the independence of Cyprus.

You can lie all you want. Your stupidity and foolishness cannot be hidden this way.

Of course the majority of us consider ourselves ethnic Greeks, like the majority of TCs consider themselves as ethnic Turks but that does not make us part of the Greek or Turkish Nation because we belong to the CYPRIOT NATION. That's what I was saying all along.

As for waving the flags of other nations and playing the national anthem of other nations that is completely wrong. The Cypriot Nation is represented by the Republic of Cyprus, has it's own flag and just by mistake in the Constitution no national anthem. The use of the Greek National Anthem is in FACT unconstitutional.

I am grateful to you,Nikepheros, for making me aware of my true identity,a NeoCypriot...I must say I hadn't heard that before...Maybe I am too isolated at the arse end of the world...

But I must also say I am still confused about what exactly your point is.
Are you trying to tell us that Turkish invasion happened and was a success only because Makarios was threatening to increase the length of service from 14 months to 24 months???Or reduce the number of Greek officers???USA,Turkey and the Greek Junta had nothing to do with it???

The fact that Sampson, a card-carrying fascist and murderer, was installed as President after a bloody coup by the Greek Officers of the NG had nothing to do with it???What is your point?

And while you are at it,can you tell me what right you have to decide what my identity should be???If I want to call myself a Cypriot who happens to speak Turkish as mother tongue, who are you to tell me otherwise???
