How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

[quote="Nikephoros"]What is the "Cyprus problem" having to do with a specific thread that posts a specific three page account of what happened in 1974? quote]

You obviously have a problem with the English language Nikephoros since it was you who started this specific thread under the section titled CYPRUS PROBLEM.

We are Greek and Turkish Cypriots; trying to reunite on any other basis in my opinion is extremely dangerous.

I agree with you 100 percent just like most Greek Cypriots. Only way to unite is for both Greeks and Turk Cypriots to respect each other for what we are : Greeks and Turk Cypriots. There is no such thing as an ethnic Cypriot just like there is no such thing as an ethnic Yugoslav or Soviet...

Let me get this straight.... Just because a parachuter dropped in here calling everybody Neocypriots and assuming the Neocypriots promote the idea of uniting under a Cypriot Ethnic-state does this mean he has the slightest clue of what the vast majority of members in this forum support? Or has he the slightest clue of what the so called "Neocypriots" support?

Of course we have 2 ethnic groups in Cyprus, (although the degree to which they are different to describe them as separate is questionable)-however... the aim is to Unite under ONE NATION.-THE CYPRIOT NATION

Nikiforos, you are right man, Makarios did fatal mistakes. Do you know which one was the most fatal? The fact that he did not round up all the likes of you and Eoka B fascits and shot them on the post. Believe me this would have been the best ever thing that a leader could have done for Cyprus at the time. It would have saved us from a lot of deaths and grief.

The fact that you talk with such hate about the communists and the left in Cyprus shows where you come from. According to you the left are the ones to be blamed for the CypProb as if Makarios or Grivas were left wing, or as if the Greek Junta or the TC leadership were communists. Get a life man, the communists and left of Cyprus (TC and GC) are the only part of the Cypriot people that do not have their hands stained with blood. Only yesterday was the remembrance day for two of the people that you consider traitors and your Eoka B gunmen had them in their books only to be a bit late as the opposite fascists were first to execute them. Does this say anything to you? The same things that the GC fascists were planing was delivered by the TC fascists.

According to your twisted fascist thinking the coup was justified because Makarios seeked to diminish the influence of the NG that developed into the long arm of the fascist regime of Greece on Cyprus. I guess you also belive that the military Junta of Athens was also a blessing for Greece and that that the 99% of Greek people were wrong to topple them.
I tell you what you piece of shit, history is written from events and facts, histoty is written from what actually happened on the ground. And what actually happened is the the EOKA B pricks organised and executed a coup against an elected government with the blessing of foreign powers and gave Turkey the pretext they were after for invating Cyprus. Now tell me that this story was written by the lefts, the communists and the Neocypriots as you like to call us.

As for the betrayal of the 1974 war you only have to ask the people that went to man the artilery guns on Pentadactylos mounten the morning of the invation and found out that the moving parts of the guns were missing, go and ask the ELDYK survivors that were orderd to attack Kionelli only to be ordered to hold the offensive 3 times until the Turkish airforce arrived to burn them with Napalms. Go ask the commanders of the Greek submarines that were patroling Kyrenia the day of the invations and never got the order to sink the invating fleet. Go and ask the pilots of the F4 squadron that were left for 5 days in their cockpits in the airport of Rhodes and never got the order to take off. Also go and ask the captain of the Greek battle ship that was patrolling south Cyprus that was ordered to sail to Rhodes once the invation started only to switch off the radio and disobey the order. Also go and ask the soldiers that attacked 3 times saint hilarion castle. But I guess you only choose to read books written by the Greek Junta lovers as you are just one of them.

Finally if you have the balls come to Cyprus and say the same things in public. That is if you are man enough to face the wrath of all those people that suffered because of the what the fascist little shits like you did at the time.

Just to confirm that you are an idiot, the three other groups you are referring to are religious minorities, not ethnic groups and only the Armenians actually would consider themselves to be an ethnic group.

So in your idiocity Eoka b oglani you already agreed the Armenians consider themselves an ethnic group. Go ask the maronites and they will tell you they are Lebaneze. Go ask the few Latins and you will see they consider themselves Italians and they all graduated the Terra -Santa Italian school.

NB. I am not surprised you don't even know what ethnic group is

At last you opened your mouth in the one and only thread you should have spoken a long time ago.
And even doing so you spoke wrong. Go do some reading of what defines an ethnic group. In Cyprus we have (rather had) 5 ethnic groups, considering the Russians and Europeans now we might have 100. These ethinic groups CONSTITUTE THE CYPRIOT NATION, the same way the 1000 ethnic groups in the US constitute the AMERICAN NATION.

Latins and Maronites you moron do not even consider themselves to be a separate ethnic group. They veiw themselves exactly as the Cyprus Constitution recognises them to be, that is religious groups, just like the Cypriot Armenians are recognised by the Cyprus Constitution as a religious and not an ethnic group.

Oh really? Have you asked anyone what he considers his roots to be? Have you ever checked what questions they ask at censuses e.g in the UK to define an ethnic group?

And for your information RELIGION is one of the most basic elements of ethnicity. Where else in the nearby area you find Maronites? In Greece, in Turkey or in LEBANON??
