(does he also write in any newspaper in the north ? )

Ibrahim Aziz' articles sometimes appear in AFRIKA,Cypez...
I think he might still be a member of AKEL.He was marked for murder by TMT (possibly also by EOKA) along with Kavazoglu for working for thesolidarity and brotherhood of the all Cypriots. What a crime!!!

NB. I don't know what crime Denktash has accused him for... any ideas anyone?

Talat had promised to lift the ban on Aziz's visit to the North, but nothing seems to have come of it,much to many people's disappointment...

As I wrote above ,Pyro,he was a union member and member for Akel (of this i am not sure) working for the solidarity of all workers irrespective of their ethnic origins. He was ordered by TMT to resign these memberships but was one of the few who refused and kept working in the Republic after 1963 events...He was luckier,or probably more cautious, than Kavazoglu. He escaped assassination by going into exile in London for a while. He now works for one of the government TV channels as news editor,if I am not mistaken...

Thanks Birkibrisli. I read the article cypez suggested. Ibrahim Asiz describes in detail the activities of Akel in the 60s. Unfortunately it is obvious not only him but actually ALL Akel high position members were not working for the brotherhood of Cypriots in the context you described it. But in the context of communism (socialism as they call it) spreading over in the Balkans Turkey and Cyprus. Just from memory (I might be wrong) he says in the article he went to Bulgaria for that purpose and was organising things...

Like I said in other posts the danger of communism in the 60s looked as equal danger as that of other dangers...

NB. I may translate the article if I have time today so we discuss it.
