Nicosia mayor Eleni Mavrou is blackmailed by Bulutoglulari

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Nicosia mayor Eleni Mavrou is blackmailed by Bulutoglulari

Postby Pyrpolizer » Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:02 pm

The Mayor of Nicosia Eleni Mavrou has sent a letter to the Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas, claiming that Mr Bulutoglulari who was invited to the Summit as the Cyprus Turkish Mayor of Lefkosia is only a local representative of the Turkish Cypriot People.

……….AND IN REACTION

Mr Bulutoglulari reiterated that he did not expect such a statement by Mrs Mavrou and added that he will convey his views on the issue to the foreign ambassadors in Cyprus. He noted that he could not cooperate with Mrs Mavrou from now on. I will not build the Mia Milia refinery with Mavrou, despite the pressures to be exerted by the EU, said Bulutoglulari noting that soon he will close the valve of the refinery to the Greek Cypriots.

We are not obliged to clean their dirt, he noted and added: At any case they are not paying the 35 million euros which are in their share. In this case we will build the part of the project which falls into our share. And we will close the valve to them.

Sooo.. what do we have here? The mainland Turks inviding Eleni Mavrous as Mayor of Greek Nicosia and Bulutoglulari as Mayor of Turkish Nicosia !!! The issue of separate municipalities that dates back from the 60s…. And then Bulutoglulari threatening to close the link of the total Nicosia swearage system to us a project that is being financed by the EU and according to which the TC side would take 75% of the irrigation water produced by that!!!

Fine! I would say let’s forget about taking our swearage to the other side and lets bypass it to our own plant in the free areas and have 100% of the irrigation water produced. What’s the point cooperating with people who cannot even honour their signatures, and their contracts with the EU

What a moron!!

Didn't anybody tell him that the occupied section of Nicosia uses the RoC pipeline network in order to carry its sewage to the Mia Milia refinery? What if the RoC closes that valve as well?

Why do I sense that this reaction is not irrelevant between the recent rift in the relations of CTP with Mr Bulutoglulari? Mr Bulutoglulari has been a champion in promoting and demanding early elections in the occupied since the recent deterioration of the relationship between the turkish army and mr Soyer.

I think the whole thing is nonsense.

I understand that Mavrou has said that Bulutoglulari can not be a mayor, despite the community mayor being in the Constitution, because the Constitution does not apply in the North. As the Constitution is not being applied in the South, the same argument would seem to hold that Mavrou can not be a mayor.

So, imo, either they grow up and both behave like mayors, or they both go back to the playpen and we get new mayors.

Actually, I think relations had been fairly good until Mavrou started demanding that Bulutoglulari not be called mayor, so I suspect some instructions came from the blinkered idiots upstairs who are trying to maintain partition.
