Greek Language Tuition

Postby aussiedrillerman » Wed Apr 11, 2007 12:19 am

My problem will be the opposite of LMG's post. (though being an Aussie I am sure there are many English people who would cast dispersions on our Aussie interpretation of the English language :D )

I will be looking for some Greek Language Tuition when I get there

Living in Nicosia and working during the day so it would be night time tuition or classes

Any suggestions?

Thanks Lena,

I am looking to learn Greek as a second language to English.

I just think it is polite to learn the local language or at least some of it where ever I go

I will also be training a number of people and I'm sure it will help both me and them if I have an understanding of the Greek Language.

In NIcosia, the university offers greek lessons. Also try the Papantoniou institute.

Hi Aussie guy

Try www.byki.com and download the "Lite" or free version. It's very good and there are 2 ways of learning it - either phonetically (transliterated) so you will be able to hear and understand as well as speak or you can have the flash cards show the language as it is written so you will be able to read and write it.

Hi

I agree with the last message. I downloaded the free version from www.byki.com for Greek and it's really good for learning the basics. It's good if you don't have a lot of time.

I don't find it too hard to speak and understand the basics but reading greek is so hard!

good luck :D

For info for the University lessons you can contact with this
e-mail:[email protected]
tel: 00357-22892028
Fax: 00357-22892029

And you can find institutions that teach Greek also during the afternoon or evening times...if you need any help on that let me know...tell me the area that you live...

I wish I knew a teacher for private lessons but i don't know any available at the moment

I am glad that you believe that you have to learn the language not because you have to but because you want to as a respect to the other

Thanks all for the hints.

I looked at the byki thing and while the writing made sense to me easily the pronouciation was a different story.

Think I'll need someone to hold my hand through the language barrier
