Erm, that seems pretty cheap. My community charge every month (for cleaning the stairs, lift maintenance etc) is about £20. During the winter we used about one gas bottle a week on a heater at £5 or so a pop, with my electric bill coming in for 3 months at about £289. Ok, so I work from home (programmer) and that includes one PC on 24/7 and another on for 7.5 hours 4 days a week (plus add a few more days a week overall for a laptop or two). And include 2 electric oil heaters on full whack about 8 hours a day (and immersion heater for about 2 hours a day). Ok, so I use a lot of leccy, but 5 pounds sounds stupidely low. My parents live in Limassol too and are extremely careful with electricity, and they come nowhere near £5 a month. Petrol is about 53c a litre I believe, so about 60p ish? Phone calls are really cheap though. Areeba is like 1p a text, you get 100's free with topup cards and they even work internationaly (ie. free or 1p to UK). I made like 2 pages of calls to the UK last month for work and it only came to like £11. Screw crappy quality Skype phones... (esp. when I charge it back to the UK company).

Oh, and food, especially meat, is pretty cheap from supermarkets. But not imported stuff. Anything with "From Iceland in the UK!" is probably quite a bit more expensive than more local stuff. If it exists.

Cheers

Grooster

Why are you asking people on this forum what the cost of living is if you have parents who can tell you the answers???

I live in rented accomodation.

My water bill for 3 months was £10.50.

Electric for 2 months was £66. I have my laptop connected 18 hours a day. I

have TV/ DVD player/stereo, oven, fridge, washing machine, halogen heater

(used occasionally) and water heater (used occasionally because of solar

panels).

My son has TV/ playstation/ xbox/ electric guitar.

Bottle of gas for the fire (not relevant for you cos you're coming for summer)

lasts about a week.Bottle on the hob, about 3 months. Roughly £5 a bottle.

I pay the first £10 of communal expenses, landlord pays the rest.
