The company I am working for placed an add in the local (greek) papers advertising for people that are interested in working on our drilling rig we are bringing in. It is an expression of interest at this stage until I can get there and start doing interviews.
I don't know what the pay rates are at this time but they will be in line with what is being paid locally to drillers plus with some production and travel bonuses.
One of my jobs will be to train up local people in modern drilling techniques on state of the art machinery to enable the company to perform its own exploration drilling in Cyprus and other countries around Europe.
One of the aims of the company is to bring in experienced people like myself from abroad and then train and build a skilled workforce from Cyprus as the business grows.
It is very hard work physically and you can spend long amounts of time away from home but it is a great way to see lots of different places and experience parts of countries that most "local" people never see.
It is a job for young (ish)(no spring chicken here anymore) single people who like hard work, travel and are prepared to rough it. (Mummas boys need not apply)
Being an experienced driller is a sort after skill all over the world and with a few years experience you really can travel the whole world.
I don't know what paper it was in but like I said it was a local greek language paper.
I would encourage people who are interested to find the add.
I will also find the address to send expressions of interest to in the next couple of days.
