What is Cyprus famous for?

8) What is the outside worlds perception of Cyprus as a nation??
To start the ball rolling with a bit of hurtful truth..
1/ Famous (notorious) for "hunters" shooting song birds.
2/ Always giving Greece maximum points in the eurovision song contest.
3/ Worst drivers in the E.U.

BOF I think that is a perception when knowing something about Cyprus.

For me it was holidays, sun, nice people, North/South divide. This was just general not thinking about it perception and a world away from me. Of course this has all changed now I know more. 2 years ago it was just a place I really fancied for a 2 week holiday!!!

All of those mentioned as well as the best potatoes on earth , halloumi , souvla kioftedes and extremely sturdy donkeys that are worked to the bone by the owners who consider these poor wretched animals as their slaves .

The good points however is the strong family commitment , the considerate and loving approach towards children , until that is they grow up and get behind the wheel.
There is indeed a high level of personal safety , considerably higher than in most European nations. The weather scores 100 out of a 100 for me as well as the carefree approach to life in general.
The Cypriots both G/Cs and T/Cs are amongst the most welcoming people on earth , a certain amount of money orientated hospitality has filtered through but so what , every one loves the dosh.

Zivania isn't bad either Richard consumed during the winter months under the pretext of keeping warm.
For me Cyprus is the best place on earth , it has its own share of problems like most places but on average quality of life compares most favourably to that of most European nations taking everything into account. Best place to bring children up too . I'm pleased to see that there is now more of an awareness to treat the wild life with a little more respect than when I was a kid growing up blissfully oblivious to the need to treat birds and other animals with kindness.

I agre with you 99% militades the only exception is the Zivania .

Got bottles and bottles in my cupboard but I cant abide it but it comes in handy for cleaning the car windscreen when I'm out of de-icer and the missus insists on rubbing it on my chest when I'm wheezing ( I get lots of wheezing.....not deliberately) !!!
