English language Tuition

Postby LMG » Sat Apr 07, 2007 6:15 pm

Hi

Can anyone tell me if there is much of a market in Cyprus for private English language teachers? I currently teach English at home.

I may have to relocate with my partner next year and am wondering how easy it will be to find work.

Thanks

LMG...welcome to the forum...well yes in Cyprus we do have several private teachers and the most popular are the English teachers!

Believe me you can teach where you leave...you can keep a room in your house for private lessons... i used to go the last years of my private lessons to a teacher like that...i had to pay a bit more but i could learn better so my mum paid for that with pleasure!!  hope that it will work for you as well!

Lena

Thanks for your reply. That's great to know. Can you remember what the going rate was when you had tuition?

Well for English private lessons that i had one year ago...I had to refresh for 4 months my English with my old teacher... I paid £15CY for 2 hours once a week...it was £60 pounds for each month...it was a bit expensive but he was so good that they beg him to accept students and he didn't have enough time!

Well you might have to start from less and if you get "customers" you can increase your fees next year...

I heart about him from a friend of mine...that teacher used to say that the best advertise is you students...and he was right...from my comments 4 of my friends went to him for lessons...and one other friend of mine she might go next year...he teach all ages...well as for you depend on what exactly you have in mind...if is something small...in a room or something for one or two (max) students...somewhere in your house...well usually people that offer this kind of lessons...they print a paper with all the info and give it to the postman to give one to all the houses around your area or to the supermarket of your area etc....if is something bigger ...well you have thousands of choices...

I hope I help a bit...feel free to ask anything else you want!
