I arrived in Cyprus yesterday

Postby My_Friend » Sat Apr 07, 2007 2:23 pm

Currently in Polis.

Went to Latchi Beach, well, only rocks and some rubbish, unfortunately.

Nice little harbour, but not the place for me to rent a long term apartment.

Yesterday I checked out Paphos, hehe, people drive like real nutters. :D

Will check out Coral beach this afternoon, rented a big 4x4 to look around a few days, at least, if anyone can recommend a place in Cyprus that matches this :

1. Quiet, secluded and clean area
2. Lots of fruit trees and unspoiled nature around
3. No communal swimming pool
4. 1 or 2 bedroom, unfurnished no problem
4. ADSL
5. Supermarket within 5 mile area

Please be serious, no Mount Olympus.

welcome to Cyprus. Try peyia village, kathikas, tremithousa, polis.pomos, all got nice areas you are looking for but unfortunately Cypriots on the whole do not appreciate that rotting rubbish does not a beautiful country make!Everything is hoarded and spread around to gather dust, rust, and vermin.Pity because the people(not developers etc) are really lovely and welcoming and hospitable.

Welcome to Cyprus My Friend :) I don't think there is a place to perfectly meet all your requirements. You can find 1,2 and 3 but without ADSL and probably no big supermarket within 5 miles. You should decide which one you can sacrifice between secluded and ADSL :P If you can sacrifice the ADSL then there are many secluded areas in Troodos with unspoiled nature around :D

Sotos, hahaha, no I can't sacrifise the ADSL...

This afternoon I checked out Chloraka, Peyia village and further to Lara (!) and Polis with my rented 4x4 (the rough way through Akamas). I really liked the area around the Bird Park, and around the little harbour at the end.

Don't know about ADSL or WIFI in that area, but if possible, I would settle there.

Beaches I have seen all suck donkey balls, it's rocks, rocks and rocks. Maybe I will visit Ayia Napa next week to check out the Eastside.

Allready met a couple of people, all very helpful and mostly Cypriot or from Eastern Europe. Don't know why, but most Brits seem to be occupied with themselves, at least the ones I greeted and ignored the tall guy with the long hairs from Holland... hehe

I must admit that most Cypriots are nice people, allthough according to money they are too eager/pushy. If they sold you the service or goods, you may just go fck yslf, just the feeling I get now and then. But I forgive them because they got some kinda charm.

About the language, it's like they are argueing all the time, it's a little lame but not disturbing. I'm used to talk soft and sweet to the ladies in Holland, but here you have to talk navywise to make your point, haha.

Also quite funny is Cypriot Television. It's Easter, and I only see old evangelic movies and woman baking cookies and pastry on TV, lol ! Never heard of emanicipation here, I guess. My hotel is next to a church, and they know how to use the bells these days, lots of singing abacadabra etc. etc. haha, I know it's temporary, so, ok.

Now, if anyone likes to meet or play some tennis, let me know, I'll be around for a while...

Your friend,
Marcus from Cyprus.

Pissouri is packed at the moment as everybody has returned home for Easter – don’t get the wrong impression of our lovely village!

Hi CG
I keep meaning to re-acquaint myself with Pissouri but keep running out of time.
