The punishment Turkish Cypriots deserve

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

@Piratis

But who the hell is this Ottoman guy? I am in here for one year now I haven't seen this name. Yet there is one "Ottoman" at Atca are you referring to him?

@Murataga

I am really schocked that you cannot realize that the TCs+Turkey are the victimizers and the GC refugees the victims of the whole situation.Not only that, but you threaten us with a new war because presumably your rights are violated by the GCs! What I see in you is like a rapist complaining to the victim of rape that she scratched him !!!! :shock: :shock: :shock:

See the above photo :!:

Oh no way I didn`t imply we are the same, God forbid... sorry if it came out like that. I was stating that you are the one who is how you try to describe me with the statement:

you also see just that 1% of the past that suits you and you are trying to use it as an excuse to commit more crimes and illegalities against us.

@ Murataga

On the other hand your posts are very confusing. Lets take for example the previous part. You said

"Until you recognize it and compensate them for all the mischief and illegal actions you have conducted they will continue to fight against you....."

You refer to they as if you are just an outsider who sees things from a distance.
You refer to they as if THEY will fight but not YOU.
On the other hand the reasons you give are all YOURS: The so called mischief, illegal actions, etc.

So it would be better if you stand by YOUR position and defend it as YOURS not trying to avoid responsibility for your own position by saying "THEY".

I would like to see clearly what YOU stand for and what YOUR thesis for the Cyprob is. So far I am not sure...

We already have, frankly I see that as a positive thing. I like using the word "teneke" I love hearing the word "gusel"? (not sure about the speling. VP in 2007 with the advent of the internet it is inevitable that most cultures/ societies and communities are influencing one another. That is called development and evolution.

Yes Greek Speaking Cypriots will still go to church, but why is that offensive to a turkish speaking cypriot? should I find it offensive if a turkish speaking cypriot goes to a mosque if a bahai goes to their place of worship? I do not I embrace and try and learn from them.

I doubt it very much that in a European Cyprus in 2007 anyone will force anyone to change their culture, religion or language. You have the right to be influenced as much or as little as you like. If I observed somethng from another culture that I thought was for my betterment ofcourse I would choose to accept it and practice it. If not I don't. But that is me. We are all different. Are you telling me that turkish people in turkey have not been influened by the west? are you telling me that turkish speaking cypriots have not been influenced by turkey and the west?

VP if we come to a point f accepting each human being as a creation of Allah then we can accept that some of us speak, greek/ turkish/ english/chinese/hebrew and we can live together in harmony, if our narrow minds allow us to expand our knowledge and horizons there are so many benefits in different cultures living together.

Yes finally I believe that the greek speaking cypriot leadership ought to acknowledege the past wrongs on turkish speaking cypriots by some fanatics at the time and create an atmosphere that will ensure personal safety as well as an encouragement of the continuation of turksih speaking cypriot culture. This is to be done through education, in all schools in all grades, and classess for adults to learn the languages of each otherthrough the newlly proposed cultural centre, when signatories from thre international arena visit grek/ turkish dances and customs ought to be applied, as well as jewish and armenian, we are all co-owners of this Island and need to represent its rich cultural heritage, and that is of-course forever canging. I assure you that weddings in cyprus today are not the weddings that i remember as a 10 year old in a hot summner night at the village square. So what i mean to say in this last sentence culture is forever evolving and changing as the modern world does too.

So taking all the above into account how is Turkey a danger and the end of the TCs identity? as many GC like to claim.

Well the fact that Turkish speaking Cypriots have their own identity and one shared with the Greek Speaking Cypriots is what makes it unique. The overwhelming numbers of settlers now representing twice the numbers of Turkish Speaking Cypriots, bringing their Turkish culture and values to the north are pushing all Turkish Speaking Cypriots away, and those who do not wish to stand up for their race being wiped out and mainstreamed into the Turkish way of life leave and the more that leave the easier it is becoming for the Turkish ideology to become embeded in the north, therefore in 50 years time it will become yet another impoverished Turkish state at the expense of Turkish Speaking Cypriots. But according to some Turkish speaking Cypriots that is okay because Turkish Speakers indigenous to Cyprus are Turks anyway. So no more discussion on this toipc because th trnc wants turkification and annexation to Turkey therefore what I just said counts for nothing......... However, you may like to speak to the Turkish Speaking Cypriot population in Melbourne Australia as they hold a different point of view. I do not belive I have the right to express this because I am of a Greek Speaking origin and anything I may say will be used against me as propaganda.

Actually VP I am glad that I am an educated man to know that you and a couple of others on this forum are not the representation of most Turkish Speaking Cypriots. And that there are those who would disagree with Turkisfication of Turkish Speaking Cypriots. As a 17 year old boy I had a relationship with a Turkish Speaking Cypriot girl and I was exposed to some of the other views of Turkish speaking Cypriots on this matter. Probably didn't care that much then to look more into it. I was in love and wanting to play.

SO the bottom line is we should fear the Turkification as you put it and not the GreekCypriotification because we are closer to you than we are the Turks...this would mean we are more Cypriot then Turk this is everyones own opinion but I feel closer to Turks than I do GCs.

What woudl the Turkificaiton hold for GCs anything negative should you be concerned or is it only our problem?

VP I think we need to stop comunicating with each other because we come from two different ends of the line. I see all Cypriots as one and therefore want a unified Cyprus, you wish to separate yourself and that is fine, but I athink we are going around in circles. I see one Island one peoples. You see something different, that is fine. I will put my efforts in achieving what I believe is right for this land and this people and you can concentrate on your agenda.

My concern on the Turkification of Cyprus is that the Cypriot culture as it exists will disappear, The beauty of our world is tha we have diversity, Cyprus is unique because of its past history and centuries of integration of differnet settlements on the Island. Turkey is unique because of its years of history, langauge and traditions, Ireland is unique because of its own cultural and historical identity, Australia is unique because of her development and the US is similary unique because of it multicultural history. To this end we have a choice if I want to experience something Australian I go to Australia, if I wish to experience something Turkish I would live/ work/ in Turkey, if I want to experience Cypriot culture/ society/ I live/ work/ holiday in Cyprus. That includes listenning to the languages spoken on the Island. Now as a child my brother and I lived in a subusrb in Australia with an unusually high numbers of Greek / Australians ... it was a fun thing to do speaking our Cypriot dialect using turkish words so that they would not understand what we were saying. So what I am saying is that turkish speaking cypriots have equally influenced the greek speaking population of Cyprus, I see that as a benefit not a threat. My only disappointment is that they did not teach the both languages at my primary school in Cyprus otherwise now I would have had the ability to speak turkish also. To me that is a big shame.

For me today as a 39 year old man, who lives abroad Turkification is not the problem VP, violation of human rights is more important to me and I would like to see an end to that. A truly independent Cyprus I believe would have so much more to offer than a divided Island. To this end I do not believe that two wrongs make a right. My fear is that if we go the partition we wil never have peace on Cyprus just like Israel and palestine have not had peace on their land for years. It is painful to see people living their daily lives within bloodshed.

To this end I wish you all the very best to you and your family and your struggles for whatever you wish for Cyprus and I willcontinue my internet fight for a United Cyprus for all its people. Because this is not just about greek vs turkish speakers but also the forgotten Cypriots of other language and traditions.
