Grooster - there is a lot of information on this and other forum sites and also estate agent sites that will give you an idea on how much apartments cost and what is available. Please spend some time to do searches - it's not hard.

long term rentals in paphos are available from the cypriots direct and can be as low as 250cy£ per month for a long term rent(6 months minimum) but you will have to pay electric water etc and landlords do tend to charge over the odds for it. If you imagine that in the summer months people can get that amount per week for a small studio then you realise why they are not that cheap.you will also have to pay up to 3 months in advance and do'nt always get the 1 month deposit back(landlords can find all sorts of"damages" after you move out to not pay it back.)

Prices are a bit more in Paphos than Larnaca but I will give you the average larnaca rental prices to give you a guide as I know what they are,

I bed is around £170 to £200 a month
2 bed is around £260 to £300 a month

Now bearing in mind you will have to put up two or possibly three months rental in advance it's going to blow away your £400 on day one .

At the end of my reply to your other post I mentioned about the deposit and it's effect on the money you will take with you.

You will have problems getting less than a six month contract -- most will only let on a minimum of twelve months.

You will have your electric and water to pay for as well plus any other charges like council tax and maintenance charges.

Why don't you do as others have suggested and share a flat with a few others .

But as you have mentioned that your parents have an apartment -- why don't you stay there it will be rent free -- in which case you £400 will just about be ok -- it will save looking for accommodation and save the huge deposit you will have to pay if you rent somewhere of your own -- I'm sure your parents would rather have the place occupied and looked after instead of being locked up gathering dust.

I hope you haven't got the idea that I'm trying to stop you from going to Cyprus -- as I'm not -- but I have told you that £400 in your pocket will not go far in Cyprus that's for sure.

Cyprus is a wonderful place -- but can be very expensive if you are young and want to get out and about .

Best of luck -- give it a try -- you have very little to lose at your age so you may as well have a go.

Just a quick point -- can you write you posts in proper English as I and no doubt a few others have great difficulty in understanding yur tex spk m8

What seems to be forgotten is that Grooster is looking for a short term let over the peak holiday period, so 400 pounds+ pm is a realistic figure; annual rental would be much cheaper of course.

that is true lana, and also, grooster also remember that connection fees for electric and telehphone/internet (that is if u need it) is apprx another 100 cyp just to connect these utilities.. summer rentals for 6 months are more expensive than a yearly rental so yes.. lana is right 400 is realistic rental ammt. We pay 350 a month for our flat in larnaca, with our electric water council and telephone/internet we are paying close to 550 a month. Even thou we both work and my partner has a very good paying job, we still struggle to live comfortably here. I have been here over a year now and i am earning only 300 cyp a month.. and believe me.. i've searched high and low for a better paying job. I'm also not trying to tell you not to come, but instead, i'm trying to tell you that you have very unrealistic expectations about cyprus.. given the ammount of messages you have received telling you the exact same thing, you'd think you'd smarten up and listen to the advise given rather than argue the point and tell us we have no idea what we're talking about.. we live here!!! we know how much it takes to survive in this country!!
listen to us all...
