Nicos Anastasiades Spills the Beans

Greek Cypriot newspaper Haravgi reported on March 24, that Nicos Anastasiades, the leader of the political party DYSI said: "EU membership means Enosis with Greece."

Newspaper said that Anastasiades made the above claim in a speech he delivered when he attended an event organised in Athens by the members of the PROTOPORIA, the student section of his party.
In his speech Anastasiades talked about two Greek voices in the EU and said that joining Cyprus to the EU means joining Cyprus to Greece.

What year was this zan? most of the other articles seem to be 5-6 years old.

If this was prior to Cyprus joining the EU then it could be considered that he was using the word Enosis as a metaphor to describe the upcoming membership of Cyprus to the EU. After all all members are supposedly in union with each other including Greece and Cyprus. And so I think you could say we all have Enosis with each other (that is countries in the EU)

I am rather curious myself. The date at the top of the page you posted was April 2001. I didn't see anything in Haravghi on March 24. Here is the link. Perhaps someone with better Greek than mine could have a look.

Anyway Anastassiades has not been in Athens very recently. He was in Paphos on 23rd March and left for Germany on the 24th.

To me the date is not the important thing but the content. Many others and I have said that this is the reason why Greece makes out like she has no more interests in Cyprus. No more interests because ENOSIS has already been achieved.........Well part of the country anyway...

Seeing the sources from where you get your information and who are the only people who today talk about ENOSIS (i.e your gang at Atca) I am not surprised.

So what do you want to discuss Zan? Allegations from Turkish sources that you cannot even prove?
Show us the article in Haravgi and then we talk again.

Using this logic we can say Turkey will achieve Enosis with Greece, and with Cyprus, once it joins the EU, since Enosis means Union. I think you should protest and ask Brussels to drop the word Union entirely. Clearly it is unacceptable ;)

Cause and effect is a universal concept. Not only do individuals reap what they sow, so do nations and governments.
