Thanks everybody for your replies and sorry that mine was late.

I would prefer something out of usual. I am sure Greek islands and many of the other places proposed here are beautiful but I don't think the environment and people will be very different from what I have already seen in Cyprus and other European destinations.

I want something beautiful and nice but also very different. Some place in Asia, Africa or South America, but not just their Americanized cities.

Depends when you want to go.
If you can wait 'til the winter, then try Myanmar(Burma)- I work there in the winter. Stunning scenery, lovely people, but a wierd government(but aren't they all?)

Andy.

Take a cruise up the Nile from Luxor and if you get time visit the Pyramids.

Hi, Have you considered Dubai? I know a few people that have went and go regularly and say it is very beautiful. Also Morocco. I only stayed in Tangiers, but I hear Marrakesh and Casablanca are wonderful.

Enjoy your holiday wherever you decide to go.

Jo :)

I have been to every continent on the planet and still love Sri Lanka. Trips there are usually very cheap and they could do with the tourism support after the devastation of the tsunami a couple of years ago. The people are very friendly and welcoming and the architecture and temples are wonderful. I went during the civil unrest years ago and was just about the only westerner at some of the tourist sites. Imagine having the elephant orphanage all to yourself and being able to feed baby elephants by hand with a bottle! The second time I went back there were more tourists but it was still magical.

How about Cuba? I went at the new year and it was wicked. Lots of history as you would expect and lots of stuff to see and do.

Cuba has got to be by far one of my favorite places to visit, I used to go twice a year until moving to Cyprus.. haven't been in 2 years now and missing it dearly. Varadero is a great beach spot, with easy access by coach to Havana.. It's not an Americanized country as it is illegal for American citizens to visit (althought they do get in from time to time via Canadian charter airlines) Anyways, like I said, fav place so far.
