if i'm not mistaken, don't you get a free box when you register with Sky?.. and don't you need to register with Sky to get the card to put into that box in order for it to work over here?...

We just registered in England (our uk address) and our box and remote were free and we received our card..

I believe the only problem with getting the free box with Sky is that it has to be linked to a UK phone line for the first twelve months -- after the twelve months is up you can remove it from the phone line and take it anywhere in the world you want.

You can buy a new box from retailers that is not bound by a contract or get a secondhand one from ebay that is out of the twelve months contract period.

The alternative in Cyprus is to buy from one of the sat shops and they will arrange connection --- whatever you do you must never tell Sky that you are in Cyprus or watching Sky out of the UK as they will terminate your contract / viewing card straight away.

Is that right??? I never had mine linked to the phone line in the UK at all. Sky never said anything?

Hi people do you not get sky in cyprus if not when i move out there do i just not tell them i moved and just leave the money coming out of the bank in england please can someone help me thanks

NO NO NO! technically you are not allowed to have sky in cyprus. Your sky membership (card) must be registered to a UK address. The money will still be taken from your uk bank account but as far as sky is concerened you will still be living in UK. You will need a up to a 3meter dish to receive here as well. It's very expensive to buy and looks horrible on top of your house!! but it's so worth it.
