Am I correct in that there are only two types of dish, prime focus and offset?
I've been told offset is the best way to go and of course with a good quality low noise LNB?
With good coax cable and the correct size dish, what's the problem?
There are more than two types of satellite dishes but the main ones are offset and prime focus designs..
The advantage of Offset dishes is that due to the design of the dish the LNB is at an offset angle not obstructing the incoming signal, but offset dishes ar OK up to a certain size..(less than 3.0m)
Prime focus dishes come into play when large dish surface is required (over 3.0m)
Good coax is absolute necessity when dealing with low signal levels (as we do with SKY in Cyprus) As to LNB,i always use the 0.3dB C120 invacom Quad with a matching feedhorn on my 4.2m installations....It is the best LNB on the market..

Sorry if this is a stupid question.
There is no such thing as a better skybox..The only difference between boxes is their tuners..
Some boxes are manufactured with more sensitive tuners than others..You would not notice any difference with these boxes when used in UK but on fringe reception areas the difference in tuner sensitivity shows up..

Bill
Thats a myth, it does not need to be linked to a phone line at all, mine never has done. It only needs to be linked to the phone line if you use any channels which need a PIN entered or of you use pay per view or sky box office, or if you wanna play a game against another sky user. But for usual channel watching it does not need a phone line.
It is not a myth..Bill is right...If the box is subsidised by SKY it has to be connected to a phone line for a full year..SKY does this to encourage their subscribers to spend money by using their interactive services (which can only be done if the box is connected to a phone line)
