Problem for you is that these days every GC household has at least one G3 and 200 rounds of ammo and full personal gear; the average GC between the ages of 18..55 can turn from civilian to soldier in about 10 minutes and be ready for combat. Good luck taking their houses, you'll need it.

yeah we have seen it all before

and what you think we are not all trained soldiers?!

last time we didnt even have a real army....

Forget the Cyprus of the 60's and 70's, they've got firepower coming out of their ears these days. If a war comes along there will probably be no island left for anyone to capture and southern Turkey will most likely be turned into glass.

You're being immature now... if Cyprus is cornered it'll be no different to cornering a cat.

IM being immature?!?!?

i don't think you will be cornered but more like surrounded my friend, Turkey can probably uphold simultaneous attacks against both Greece and Cyprus without a problem, not that it would ever happen but hypothetically speaking, you guys will probably end up hugging your G3s under your beds trembling

BTW, did you know that G3s were banned from the EU? apparently they are too ancient and too powerful, they say the aim is to wound rather then kill so that more people will be left out of combat trying to help their fellow wounded soldiers....

Shame the Turks are not in the EU because that all we have

shahmaran have you read the clinton book? there is a section about the imia crisis where ciller was begging clinton to stop greece from going all out against turkey. we are talking 1995, when the greek forces were far below the turkish. today i think greece would outperform turkey in any war, especially with the latest block 52 planes.

anyway get a hold of the book and read it.

ps turkey airforce would't make it past the islands for an attack on the mainland. but the islands can more than attack inside turkey.

Politicians can not do more than what is possible. In our case I agree with Sotos that Turkey can not be convinced just with words to end the occupation.

shahmaran, nobody doubts that Turkey has the power to keep north Cyprus under occupation today. What your arrogance doesn't allow you to see though, is that the balance of power of today can very easily shift tomorrow. Just think of how huge and great the Ottoman empire once was. Do you think the Ottomans could imaginve an independent Greece back then?

And we don't even need to go that far. Just recenly one of the super powers broke up in pieces from one day to the next. Could anybody imagine for example that Latvia with a huge 30% Russian minority, could become independent from the mighty USSR? Russia is still very powerful, and Latvia is still a tiny country but still the balance of power had shifted in such a way that allowed those events.

The biggest mistake from the Turkish side is their arrogance.

will you lot stop talking shit about war and what will be the outcome there is going to be no war take that from me...................secondly all the wars that have happened in cyprus in the last fifty years has been through the help of cypriot people those fuckers who sided with greece and turkey those fuckers who called themselves eoka and tmt they who sold us out they who betrayed us they who are in power today in the south and the north they who still lick turkeys and grecces asses.................. next time any of you watch tv and see a gover, ent fegure on t v in cyprus you can be sure they are either have eoka background or they have tmt background........... their reward for betraying cyprus was rewarded when they were given goverment post in cyprus in the north and in the south.and you can be sure as sure can be that every person they pick to represent them regarding politics belongs to eoka and tmt.......................

Blablabla shift of power blablabla im sure if it ever came to that Piratis, you would at the front line

However back to reality, we have seen Greek performance MANY times, WEL ALL DID! And that was back when Turkey was hardly a country and the army was put together out of nothing, and this is no bloody ancient Greek war myth, it was reality and before the eyes of the entire world, during this century!!

And i remind you that the Ottoman Empire didn't collapse because of the Greeks but mainly because of the back stabbing Arabs, shortly after to be attacked by the British backed brand new full force Greek army who barley made it back out in one piece while burning entire villages and killing children and women out of despair, and i shouldn't have to remind you of Gallipoli either should i? How many countries were involved in that? One of the bloodiest defeats that region had ever seen yet again against Turks who hardly had an army!

Yet all took place during the weakest points of the Turkish history and all ended with humiliating defeats!

I say Greeks and GCs wouldn't even have the balls to commerce an attack EVER AGAIN, let alone defeat!

You are just about only good at attacking defenseless TC villages, and you couldn't even get that one right!

Maybe you should try attacking some crippled kittens, you might have more of a chance!

I thought we already analysed Turkey's military performance:

http://www.cyprus-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10123

If that's how you're going to fight if there's ever a war again you might actually end up losing Turkish soil let alone Cyprus!
