2nd one
The evolution of Greek nationalism in Cyprus
Friday, March 30, 2007
Fanos Droushiotis
There can be little doubt that nationalism has been the dominant political ideology in the modern history of Cyprus. With the advent of British colonialism in 1878, Greek-Cypriot nationalism, in the form of the demand for union (“Enosis”) with Greece, began to be transformed into a mass movement, in reaction to Turkish-Cypriot nationalism, which was calling for the partition (“Taksim”) of Cyprus along ethnic lines.

Original article

Politics, Social Memory, and Identity in Greek Cyprus since 1974
Essay by Greek Cypriot sociologist Caesar V. Mavratsas, a professor at the University of Cyprus.

"There can be little doubt that nationalism has been the dominant political ideology in the modern history of Cyprus' With the advent of British colonialism in 1878, Greek-Cypriot irredentist nationalism, in the form of the demand for union {enosis) with Greece, began to be transformed into a mass movement in reaction to which there gradually arose an opposing Turkish-Cypriot nationalism, calling for the partition (taksim) of Cyprus along ethnic lines."

Congratulations.... a superb display: GC democracy at its best. Humiliate, personally insult, cuss, swear, belittle, and by all means please feel free to threaten, if someone comes up with anything short of GC propaganda. Well done lads, bravo, a fabulous display indeed 8)

GC democracy at its best

Yes, because we have the right to speak our minds and freedom of speech - unlike in Turkey and its occupation in Cyprus as you well know.

Fanos don't give up so easy I have had the same experience anything certain idiots do not want to deal with they dub as propaganda that's why your should stand your ground. You can provide vital information about what life is like in the north that can help Gcs understand that everyone can live on both sides of the border its a matter a choice.

We TCs need you even if GC ridicule and belittle you, you have to speak up keeping quite will not do anyone any good, stand your ground and show those idiots how wrong they are.

For your information VP, part of what Fanos is doing is really BRAVE. I mean the part that he is living in the occupied. If you think his life there is rosy for a GC then you are absolutely wrong. But you never had the mental abilities to work that out.

You on the other hand are just a chicky person who afraids his own shadow.
Your case has nothing to do with Fanos.

Fanos will be a brave person and just clear some things out in his life. THAT'S ALL. Good luck Fanos.

I can't understand why people are sticking up for this guy -

he is passing off the property of others as his own...hang on

As for brave Pyr, now I wonder if he is just stupid, - the audacity of just changing the author on the article to himself, did he really think he'd get away with it?

Precicely the big difference son . I can call the Greeks a bunch of wankers , poofters , insult the Greek flag , insult Christianity , just as every free democratic nation on this planet can say about their country , or their religion , without the fear of some third world piece of shit arresting me for insulting my nation. Turkey is still buried in the past but she is changing and will change and that dated clause that makes it a crime to admit to indiscretions and past atrocities , will be binned along with the T/C s. That is the BIG difference mate. Every one knows who I'm , but I can express my views on the Cypriot politicians , the Greek politicians the very fibre of the Hellenic structure without fearing for my life.
