FOOD FOR THOUGHT! AN ARMENIAN PRESIDENT FOR CYPRUS?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby fanourıo » Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:15 pm

Karoyian is a good boy. He has the right to be elected president, afterall he is currently the president of the Democratic party and he would not take the post if he COULDNT be elected for president. The question is how will Turkey negotiate with an ARMENIAN about Cyprus?

If an Armenian can not become president , can a Charlie from the UK make it ?? And could he in the summer months with temperatures in the 40s , dress with out a bloody suit and tie , or is this mode of dress prohibited by the 1960 constitution. After all the world's most powerful have figured it out that when is bloody hot and humid you get rid of the suit and tie. It amuses me no end when I watch the Cypriot politicians in sweltering hot temperatures dressed to impress !! They unquestionably assume that politicians are neither hot nor cold but then who was it who said "I PELLI ME RIOUN ME VRAZOUN "" Take notice Cypriot politicians !!!
Just a little humour folks !

Oulov Palme was walking around stockholm wearing jeans and i think he was also riding a bicycle..... of course he got killed by some idiot but he was an example to polticians, at least in their dressing and everyday behaviour.....;)

All three communities choose to belong top the GC community, so they have the same political rights as the GC community and therefore can run for president but not for Vice-president and can be ellected in the GC parliamentary chamber but not in the TC one.
This the main reason that when people quote the % split of the population in terms of political rights they quote 82% Vs 18% and not 78% Vs 2% Vs 1% Vs 1% Vs 18%.

Thanks Askimwos but the crucial question is whether the President has to be a GC (pure) or anyone of the other groups who for voting rights belong to the group called GC community.
For example the Armenians as such are not allowed separate MPs. Only attendants.

I used the term political rights and not voting rights. So yes Armrnians, Maronites and Latins have the right to be elected as president of the RoC. They also have the right to be elected as MPs in the GC parliamentary chamber. Each of these communities are allowed an attendant in the parliament not because they are not allowed to have MPs but rather to guarantee some sort of representation in the parliament should they fail to elect anybody from their communities.
