can you imagine the New president of the Democratic party Mr MArios Karoyian, an armenian,

Marios Karoyian is a good bloke and would make a great president one day but I suspect that Andros Kyprianou will join DIKO in the future and attain that seat...

Yes but will be the TURKISH reaction to an ARMENIAN president for ROC? Thats the question..... Nothing against Armenians but I dont think Turkey will be very happy in such a case.....

Yeah, I suppose Turkey could get spiteful and make Fanos Droushiotis the president of the "TRNC"! :)

All three communities choose to belong top the GC community, so they have the same political rights as the GC community and therefore can run for president but not for Vice-president and can be ellected in the GC parliamentary chamber but not in the TC one.
This the main reason that when people quote the % split of the population in terms of political rights they quote 82% Vs 18% and not 78% Vs 2% Vs 1% Vs 1% Vs 18%.

Thanks Askimwos but the crucial question is whether the President has to be a GC (pure) or anyone of the other groups who for voting rights belong to the group called GC community.
For example the Armenians as such are not allowed separate MPs. Only attendants.

Yes why not Miltiades, but you know our glorious constitution that they forced on us says a TC cannot be president

That's why I wonder if an Armenian could be.

You know Marios Karoyan was not even allowed to serve in the army... just because he was Armenian.

i think that according to the treaty all christians are deemed as "greek cypriots"
