How can you tell which GC or TC action is aggression and which one is retaliation ?

The bastard who keeps tormenting and using underhand tactics to hurt and get rid of the other person just to get what they want is the aggressor and the victim who finally explodes and hits back in anger is retaliation. Think of the 1963-1974 period as the build up to the explosion time and you will work out who the aggressor is and who retaliated to save the existence.

The increasing intercommunal strife effectively became a civil war between the Greeks and Turks and it reached its zenith in August1958. That month, late one night, I was in the Larnaca police station and saw a crowd of policemen gathered round a car (a Ford Consul) with dark liquid leaking from under its doors. We went to have a look and promptly wished we hadn't. The liquid was blood, coming from the remains of three Greek Cypriots who had been caught by Turks. The Turks had hacked them to pieces, cutting off their penises and stuffing them in their mouths in the course of the frenzied attack. Apparently this was part of some religious rite to prevent the victims entering heaven. I hope God was pleased.

If the brother or cousin or friend of one the GC victims above subsequently murdered one or more TCs, is that an act of aggression or retaliation ?

I think you should clarify this aggression vs retaliation business.

How can you be so sure it was the TCs that killed them?:wink: Was there any evidence? Did they find which kinds of bullets were used? Sounds funny how blood would be "leaking from the doors". I think EOKA did it! Tassos probably put them in the car for propaganda purposes.
I think it's safe to say that we don't know who did this since there wasn't any reliable witnesses who actually saw it happen.

If the witness had said 5 men came into the house, you would of said "how did he know? In all that gunfire how did they see how many people there was? If they got shot through the door and was done quickly how did they see?"
