Babacan: Europe made mistake by inclusion of Cyprus in the Union

Europe made a mistake by admission of Cyprus into the European Union which prevents it now to be impartial in resolving of the Cyprus issue. Turkey's chief negotiator with EU, Ali Babacan, told this to Bulgarian media yesterday.
"It is not usual for the European Union to admit countries with outstanding border issues. Now they became Union's issues too, so the EU authorities could not be impartial when it comes resolving of the Cyprus issues as much as they wanted to be", Babacan explained.
He added that despite all, EU should exert pressure on the Greek Cypriots to embark upon negotiations with the Turkish Cypriots.
