FWIW, there was a show on Discovery where a guy breaks into a houses on camera so as to show people how to secure them. The guy broke into one house and two dogs - a rottweiler and a pit bull - followed him around taking treats from him. He made off with all kinds of crap. Sh!t - he even took an 8-ft python.

People's pets might raise a good ruckus to deter potential burglars. But they should be properly trained on what to do if someone does break in. At least that way, the dog will know that it's supposed to take some certain action if someone does - and not just take the intruder to the refrigerator.

safe?

Postby careylynn » Fri Mar 23, 2007 1:18 pm

I moved here 6 monts ago and was told time and time again 'this is Cyprus! it's safe!!"....and i believed it for awhile..walking at night didn't bother me, leaving doors unlocked... but in the past two months i have had 3 friends involved in attempted rapes.... cyprus IS NOT safe, and there are no laws against this kind of crime that really make any difference. one of the men was 16, he tried to rape my friend hit her with a gun he was carrying and luckily she fought him off... he is now free, out on the street, with the detective making the comment 'he's just a good ole boy' !!!!!!!!!!

this male machismo mentality and submission of all females is making me want to vomit.

women-be careful here, its not as safe as they claim....

I must admit it has changed over the past five years.
I never used to lock my door at home, until someone went in my house and took 200cyp off the table..
it is getting worse.. BUT !..... try picking up a british newspaper.
I never-ever read them, but someone left one in my office last week,
so I picked it up and started filcking through..
I must have only passed 2 pages before I threw it in the bin .
I just shook my head and said to the wife, I knew there was a reason we left..
ITS NOT ANYWHERE NEAR AS BAD AS THE UK..

every country has crime, it just depends on how much..
