I have to say the only schooner i know is one full of yukky sherry and old tea. But I get your drift.......it would be nice.........to forget about all the ills of normal life and society and the sadness that surrounds us.

Cyprus is unfortunately one such country , third world mentality that still considers smoking as cool. The only thing cool about smoking is the utter disgusting breath that smokers have.

Elton John is a non smoker, I don't think the 'intimacy' bit bothers him too much.

Elton John is also a poofter and a fat one so he needs to watch out.

Well a lot of people seem to agree with the ban but what is being done about it? Every pub I have been in is still allowing smoking and, on the rare occasions that the police come in, the fine is about £20 which goes into the policeman's back pocket and the smokers club together to pay the landlord back. Typical Cypriot law!!! The law will never be enforced until we, the public, report evey instance of the law being broken.

DUNCAN, welcome to the forum and good luck with your posts.

I personally think that your assessment of the situation regarding 'on the spot fines' is a little far fetched.

If you have truly observed the incident you described, I am heartened by the fact that the smokers closed ranks and pulled together at a critical time.

I salute the brotherhood of those who contributed on the landlord's behalf and admire their loyalty, there are far too many restrictive laws upon us all, we should be wary of them and keep our heads down when the 'LAW' is about.

(I believe the word 'Grass' would best describe one who would inform on such trivia)

No offence to you mate, just my opinion.
