My point is that technically we could have defended our country well, had it not been for the internal mess, from an invasion of hopeless illiterate anatolian peasants.

I was not pro-invasion at all, and I realised at the time what the consequences of war on Cyprus would be, but GR, it was those 'hopeless, illiterate anatolian peasants' who ruled the day.

I'm quite convinced that had their timing of the invasion not been perfect there would've been a bay of pigs #2 because you catch an invader on the shores and not inland three days later.
