Does I-Choice and netrunner support Microsoft Outlook?

Postby Dejavu » Wed Mar 21, 2007 8:27 am

Good Morning to everybody,
I need your help.
My parents will get Adsl Access in Protaras, I'm in Germany and can not check what happens when they have their access. We want to configurate their Laptop best as possible here already, it's their first Laptop.
Is it possible to access other email accounts with i-choice and netrunner?
Or do they only use their portal version?
If yes, could anybody tell me if there are special configurations on Outlook?
If they enter i-Choice portal is it really neccesary to enter User id an password every time and another one if they enter to internet via netrunner?
Or are there any possibilities to store the password.
Does anybody know if the Thomson speedtouch modem is a wireless lan modem?
My parents will leave Germany in 2 days, that's why it is very urgent to know above things.
Thank you for your help.

don't quite know what you are asking but I will try 3 answers

1. Yes you can access other email accounts via ichoice/cytanet and use outlook... gmail is one but there are many others..

2. Yes you can access cytanet webmail from anywhere in the world, and also with outlook..

3. no need to login to ichoice portal from abroad

Sorry, my question was not clear in that case

1. my parents do already have an email adress at a german server.
can they use this account with microsoft outlook.

2. They want to use i-choice / netrunner only from protaras.
But do they need to log in and out each time they want to use internet
or sent and receive an email via outlook?

3. or can they only sent and receive mails on their cytanet emailadress

4. does the tompson moden support wireless lan? or just connection with etehernet cable? I saw somthing like cyta enabled the wireless lan on the modem.

on Windows XP there is a remote function "calling a friend for help" this means another person form anywhere could get access on the Laptop.
That for an IP adress is needed. Is this function possible with the normal netrunner (you are not getting a real IP, I've read)

Thank you.

Hi,

As long as the mail account in germany is still active, it can be accessed via outlook from anywhere with any connection (i'm pretty sure) as it goes through pop servers.

you do occasionally (very occasionally) have to re-enter the login details if experiancing trouble, it is so easy, simply go to i-choice.com and enter the username and password. really is quite simple Aside from that, turn on the computer and you are connected.

the NEW routers that are being installed are wireless and are now being used as a router as opposed to previously they were just pass through modem config. to enable the wireless on these just go to 192.168.10.254 select the wireless section, then configuration and enable the wireless.

you are correct that you do not get a true IP address, but if they are using msn messenger for example you can take control off their desktop via that and help solve any problems. you can get the true ip address but that is a bit more technical.

Perhaps your German ISP has webmail just as Cyta does for recieving your email from anywhere in the world. Here's the Cyta one... (but you would need to log on of course)...
