Wikipedia’s “TRNC” nonsense reaches new heights…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Wikipedia’s “TRNC” nonsense reaches new heights…

Postby Get Real! » Tue Mar 20, 2007 9:06 pm

Turkish Cypriot Wikipedians have done it again this time with invented figures for the “TRNC” population, GDP, and especially the “per Capita” rating of the occupied territories...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRNC

According to the Turkish Cypriot author of the article the North’s population is 264,172 and the 2005 GDP $2 billion giving the VERY prosperous per Capita rating of… wait for it… $16,900!

Move over Republic of Cyprus… the embargoed Los Vegas has arrived!

With a figure like that you could be forgiven for thinking that the “per Capita” rating is a complex calculation that only mathematicians can figure out but in reality it’s as simple as… Per Capita = GDP / Population so let’s do the sophisticated Maths:

2,000,000,000 / 264,172 = $7,570.80

Oops…back to the old drawing board!

Thank God for the Turkish Cypriot contribution to the Wikipedia ready to inform you ALWAYS!

NB: The actual 2005 figures are a population of around 235,000, and an annual GDP of 900 million, yielding a per capita of $3,829.

Regards, GR.
