I want to hire a Enduro motorcycle (500 ccm) in May. I arrive in Larnaca.
Can someone send me a link from a rent-station or give me some information about this. I am looking also for a good map with 1:100.000 or 1:50000 scale. Does someone know where I can get this. I would be happy when you can give me Informations for a trip Larnaca-Salamis-Kantara-Keryneia-Polis-Pafos-Kourion about small family-run Hotels, or agrotouristic-Hotels.

MY ADVICE RENT A CAR with AIRCON. NOT A MOTORBIKE for you and your family safety. Prices from £15 a day

Fly to Larnaca airport because tickets are cheeper .(u ca get map from any car rental company free of charge but For North Cyprus you have to get one from North Torist info or anywhere really). In Larnaca Except Pricess Hotel all the other ones are good . Because of your location you can start your trip by going Famagusta (you have to cross North by Vrysulles) and you can go staright towards Karpaz but ofter 8 miles from famagusta you can visit the Salamis ancheint city and you carryon your way. You can see the villas i m building on your left carryon and you will find the exotic hotel in bogaz village (its cheap and nice) stay overnight there and evening go to the restaurant on the beach which belong to bogaz hotel and have a Sheftali kebap or Seabass . Then morning when you wake up you can start your journey towards Karpaz , make sure when you see the donkwys take a picture because Cypruse is famaus with the wild Donkeys , you can stop and watch them but dont try to go next to them because they will run away. When you arrive Golden Beach make sure walk down because you will see some big nice birds which i dont know how they called andd Golden beach is the best in Cyprus and in the world one of the best. You can stay there small wood banglows or i think its better on the way back its a small hotel you will see that one is better.In the morning travel to Kantara towards by going bogaz village back and as someone which they will divert you. When you get kantara you can visit kantara castle and you can drive to Kyrenia from there from the mountains and i think in the evening you will be in Kyrenia . Stay i Kyrenia couple days because much to do and dont forget to visit BALLAPEIS and eat in the Kybella restaurant daytime to see the amazing view. After Kyrenia you have todrive towards Lapta then If you have time you can visit this very lovely village sadrazamkoy which Maronites lives and you can also visit the bluevilla musium aswell near there.Then you have to travel Guzelyurt (morphou) not much to do there but if you want to go further you can visit LEFKE and its a SOLI there nothing then travel to Bostanci Zokya and pass to South.Then you can travel to Trodos then Paphos and my GC friend will give you more advise about south . thank you for your detailed answer! I will realy follow these good informations I will get here from the cyprus-forum.
But one thing I can not do....taking a car. I travel alone ( the family stays at home!) .... have you ever gone with an enduro-motorcycle in May by beautyful sunshine in your beautiful country to that small country-roads , farm tracks ... to the smallest villages where normaly no tourist will come? You dont feel the wind, the smell of flowers und trees, the sun and the freedom in a airconitioned car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK . If your family not comig thats fine. But still be carefull because All Cypriots can jump in the road with their cars. You can always get a Convertible car and your family join you as well .
Anyway i think its good idea. Hope you enjoy your holiday . Dont forget to take camera with you

I've seen plenty of "big nice birds" on Larnaca beach .

as an avid bird watcher I often sit there for hours watching them --- I've tried a couple of times to get close to get a better look but they always run away .

Certainly makes an old man happy even though I'm slightly handicapped by not being able to run as quick as they can

Sokrates, check with the hire company that you can take the bike over into the occupied areas. My husband has a Harley and is a member of the Cyprus Chapter. We often go on rides through Cyprus enmasse, 20, 30, 40 bikes at a time. A great site to see. We do the back roads through the villages, through the mountains, paphos, polis, pomos, central areas like vavatsinia, kato drys, ora, pyrga, western island through protaras, paralimni. Use lots of sun cream and a high protection, you don't realise the sun with the wind in your face

Sadly you are right Twinkle .

When I relocate to Cyprus on a permanent basis ( which should be within the next couple of months ) I would love to hire a bike and come out with your group .

I will be located in Larnaca and I'm an experienced rider.

I may even buy another Bike -- as I've never been without a bike since the age of 13 it will seem strange not to own a bike anymore.

I've been getting rid of my bikes during the last 6 months ( all classics ) and I'm now about to sell the last one as I don't think I can bring it to Cyprus which is very sad as I restored it from a box of bits to showroom condition .

If you don't mind I'll pm your hubby when I'm finally there.

No problem. Have to say that they are selective and only allow HD on their rides. But you can hire from the dealership here. We also do alot of charity work and organise weekenders in each town over the summer where there are rides, events and fundraising. It is great fun but a bit sore for us wives hanging on the back of v-rods and road kings
