I am one of those TCs who is petrified at the thought of annexation by Turkey.I am also very afraid at what is happening slowly in the TRNC,the Turkification of TCs...Unless we get some real help from our brothers,GCs,in the form of a solution which will reunite us,the TC culture and identity will be extinct within 25 years.
My dear friend, MR, will probably be the one who switches the lights off when the end of TCs come. And I know he would not like it one bit...
So can we expect help from our compatriots to stop us from being gobbled up by Turkey? Otherwise, it will probably be their turn in not so distant future...
I'm a firm supporter of the EU and do really think that it is the greatest European achievement ever. Millions of Europeans perished in two world wars , this Union of nations that previously fought each other at least guarantees that the prospects of a European conflict are negligible. One day even Russia will join.
As far as the" Turkification " of the T/Cs goes , as you say Birk the G/Cs ought to consider the consequences and look ahead at what can happen , already happening , to a part of our Cyprus. The RoC government is letting the people down by not concentrating hard on the task at hand which is an amicable solution to the Cyprus problem. It has to embark on a concerted campaign to win over the T/Cs by actions and by words too , playing down their role by the constant inference of their numerical inferiority will push them closer to Turkey than they already are.
I wish more people thought and felt like you do,dear miltiades.
It is a matter of urgency now that we find a way to reunite our motherland.Withing 10 years it will be too late...Partition will be entrenched and TC identity totally subjugated...The next step will probably be annexation!!!
