Turkish settlers number 146,442....

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

That why I talked about RoC being an open economy. If people come here and find no jobs they are bound to go elsewhere. The argunment about Turkey sending people to the RoC to flood the place is the shallowest I have ever heart. Turkey enticed settlers to move to the occuppied areas by giving them what it grabbed with the force of guns i.e. free GC and and houses. Do you thing they can do the same in the RoC?

You bet your life they can and will. I'd buy a nice house somewhwere in Greece if I were you. Once the Turks enter the EU Europe will never be the same.

The modern day Turk will achieve what the ottomans failed, they will conquer the world, well at least Europe

Well if you were a Turk and wanted to emigrate would you choose Cyprus, Germany or UK?

And please cut the chauvinist bullshit about turks conquering the world. It makes me sick just listening to such statements no matter from which nationality these come from.

Askimwos, there was no offense meant. I meant conquer as in masses and masses of workforce, cheap Turkish labour force. Not the kind of conquering as in the Ottomans.

I have been in England for 43 years, will soon (a few years time) retire in my beautiful Cyprus. I have always considered Cyprus my home and am madly in love with it. I have cursed the GCs every day of my life for forcing us to leave our home and exiling us.

If I were to migrate anywhere in the world my first choice is England. I would be very keen on Australia too. Germany would probably be my 3rd choice.

Cyprus or Greece wouldn't be in the equation.

I can understand the feeling of being forced out of your house and having to emigrate elsewhere. This is the reality for about one third of the population of Cyprus. What you seem to fail to realise though that it is not all GCs to blame for your misfortune but a small minority of of nationaists from both sides that chose to follow their own and their motherlands' agendas. Should all GCs refugees hate all TC everyday people for their misfortunes. You said it yourself that you are close to retirement. Should I believe that in all those years you have never come to meet any Gcs that share the same misfortune with you?

I have met many GCs in the same predicament. I feel for them, I sincerely sympathise with the. All I can say is we are all victims of circumstances and all our wounds will one day heal. Time is a great healer.

I condemn all those that have benefited from the misfortunes of GCs.

Good night mate.

By the time the EU is ready for Turkey and vice versa, there will probably not be an EU any longer.so lets not put our eggs in the EU basket.
I am one of those TCs who is petrified at the thought of annexation by Turkey.I am also very afraid at what is happening slowly in the TRNC,the Turkification of TCs...Unless we get some real help from our brothers,GCs,in the form of a solution which will reunite us,the TC culture and identity will be extinct within 25 years.

My dear friend, MR, will probably be the one who switches the lights off when the end of TCs come. And I know he would not like it one bit...
So can we expect help from our compatriots to stop us from being gobbled up by Turkey? Otherwise, it will probably be their turn in not so distant future...

I'm a firm supporter of the EU and do really think that it is the greatest European achievement ever. Millions of Europeans perished in two world wars , this Union of nations that previously fought each other at least guarantees that the prospects of a European conflict are negligible. One day even Russia will join.
As far as the" Turkification " of the T/Cs goes , as you say Birk the G/Cs ought to consider the consequences and look ahead at what can happen , already happening , to a part of our Cyprus. The RoC government is letting the people down by not concentrating hard on the task at hand which is an amicable solution to the Cyprus problem. It has to embark on a concerted campaign to win over the T/Cs by actions and by words too , playing down their role by the constant inference of their numerical inferiority will push them closer to Turkey than they already are.

Well said...but there is no GC will, vision or desire for such steps, they are continually projecting an alienating stance which over the past 4 years has cause a great deal of damage to GC TC relations. They cant even talk to us let alone share a country.

They don't seem to feel this is a big issue for them and that it is only a problem we face alone, well I have stated that Turkey will be there closest neighbour and that if Turkey gets into the they will be flooded with Turkish workers, products, traditions that they to will be amazed at the transformation. They may not want to live in a TC state but they are destined to live in a very Turkish influenced environment as this time they will be in our position the numerical minority but hey as you tell no need to worry I am sure Turkey has no bad intentions
