Is Cyprus a "problem" or just evolving?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Is Cyprus a "problem" or just evolving?

The Cyprus problem is not about a “problem” but about who gets to CONTROL the island and nothing else. The sum of all the bickering that goes on almost daily is to determine who controls what and to what extend.

If it were possible the TC regime would have full control of the island with or without GCs (preferably without) and establish an independent country and probably even gradually break away from Turkey altogether but at the moment they need Turkey of course, in fact I’d worry about the TCs if they were to start exercising policies that defy human nature!

We need to be REALISTIC about the true motives of all those who claim “Cypriotness” if we are to make any sense out of all this. Many everyday Cypriot citizens from all ethnic backgrounds are well-meaning and probably have good intentions of living together, sharing one or the other, etc, but at the end of the day they will have very little or no say in it and it’s the power-hungry politicians that will constantly push for an ever-increasing slice of the power over the island in the frenzy of competition for control.

We have inherited this island and all its baggage from our forefathers and are expected to pass it on to the next generations not only intact but in an even greater aggrandizement if possible because such is the nature of the human being. The struggle against the Ottoman/Turkic people began from way back in 1571 and may not cease for a few more centuries yet so let us not forget that you and I are simply passing through a fraction of time on this difficult journey towards the ultimate destiny of the indigenous Cypriot.

Regards, GR.

Having other people of other ethnicities onboard as Cypriots is NOT a problem but the preservation of the indigenous Cypriot, or the very foundation of the island, is paramount to the identity of the island.
